What's made you grumpy today?

What's made you grumpy today?

The 159 is being very grumpy, which since over the last year or so she's had a new intake manifold with new swirl flaps, a new clutch and DMF and new springs and such all around I think it's a bit off to start stalling, knocking and generally acting like a scrapper.

I think she got jealous.

I left for work earlier than usual this morning expecting delays due to wind fall and sure enough a tree had been blown down on to the main road out of my village. I parked in the road with my hazard lights on and set to taking branches off with my machete (it was quarter to six in the morning so I wasn't going to use my chainsaw, besides it wasn't a very big tree). A line of about four cars and a van waited behind mine but left me to it. I cleared the right lane and vehicles came though some pillock in an Audi A3 diesel overtook the line of cars, nearly hit me and then nearly hit someone coming the other way on a pushbike.

As I was clearing the left lane those who had waited patiently waved, flashed lights and were generally nice as they drove past along the right.

All clear and as I had just got black in my car some pillock in a Nissan Juke nearly drove into the back of my bright yellow Bravo with hazard and tail lights on, blasted his horn, slammed the thing into reverse and wheel span as it went by shouting abuse from the open rear passenger side window.

After all that I might as well have use my chainsaw as the rest of the village was probably woken by that twunt.

:bang:

P.S No images or video as the camera is only on when the engine is running.

Pootling down the A610 today only to be nearly run off the road by two cars either racing or fighting each other and driving like utter ****s. One was a MKIV Astravan and the other.....a driving instructor!
They were:
speeding
driving really close to each other
undertaking each other and
cutting other cars and lorries up

Quite astounding as the driving instructor had all the signs and everything.

If you can remember any details of the instructor, report him to DVSA. Unacceptable behaviour.

With a track day next Friday looming I have found a set of lowering springs local to me but they will not reply to eBay messages about collection and their phone number is fake. They and the others online won't be delivered on time if I take that option. :bang:

So I went direct to Apex and saved £30

Result. :)

Re: What's made you not grumpy but not smile either today?

Got in to work (06:00) to find that there is a mistake in today's job list and either nobody spotted it yesterday afternoon or they decided to leave it until tomorrow to fix.

I'm perfectly capable of rewriting the CNC programs in order to fix the error, bu I have to await confirmation from the office that it is indeed a mistake and not something special requested by the client.

So now I have to find something else to do until 09:30...

Edit: And my digital vernier caliper is flashing "Low Battery", secretary, who has the keys to the store cupboard, doesn't arrive until, you guessed it...

Now officially grumpy.

Spoke to the office staff and they "weren't paying attention".

In other words, you got the order from the sales dept, didn't check it, fed it into the computer, hit the button to generate the factory programs and went for a coffee.

Thanks.

"It's ok, you can fix it, can't you?"

Once again, thanks.

Yes I can ****ing well fix it. It'll take 10 minutes longer to machine per piece and we'll blow the profit margin on the job, but I can fix it.

What really get me is I can do their jobs (today it appears I have to), but they can't do mine.

They get paid rather more than I do.

So all in all, nothing new, just the classic factory floor vs office issue.

My colleague deciding to just disappear in the airport lounge, leaving me to look after both of our bags. Dude, I want to grab free food while I'm here...

(first world problem, I know)

Carry your bag to the free food source, leave his unattended. Let security blow it up.

Or hand his bag in to lost property.

Heating element in the oven is gone...

If it is a fan oven, it is quite likely that the element can be replaced from inside the oven, no need to take it out of its housing or take the back off.
Found out the silly way a few years back, removed from built-in unit, took back off, to find all accessible from inside oven. Just take care not to let the wires disappear back through the 'wall' when disconnected.

Some are quite cheap from online sellers too.

It is and I've had a look, looks like 8 screws and 3 wires. I've done more complicated headlamp bulb changes. But the parts 50 quid and as ever when these things happen I'm rostered in the next 7 days with no rest days. At least it's a double oven so the none fan section works.

If she's unsure as to what she's doing/it doesn't go quite right it's pretty likely we'll need a new oven. Finesse, delicacy, care...these are words not associated with her treatment of mechanical/electric equipment.

Why the F**k is this not working followed by a thud..that's more on the money.
