What's made you grumpy today?

we are pretty insulated here got the loft fully packed out and cavity insulated walls.. fully double glazed..
its not the heating bill that is the issue.. its just the electric.
at £22 that would last us.. what a few days?

we have those damn annoying bulbs that take 5 seconds to turn on.. but another 5 minuets to warm up so you can actually see the coffee table your shin / little toe found 4 minuets and 50 seconds ago!

I hate those lights but love the cost to run them!

Unplug everything (including fridge and freezer, make sure cooker and shower are off at the main switch too - then see if your meter is still registering use like a mad un! (spinning disc or blinky light). If it is then I'd say you've got a short somewhere or your neighbours are stealing it....

It's amazing how much power an old freezer or fridge will drain, then things like power adapters for stuff too. Start to narrow things down until you isolate what ever it is that's chewing through the KW's.

i have gone around and unplugged everything, using a clamp on amp meter i took reading as i turned on each individual breaker. the house uses 0.07 amps with nothing plugged in but i put this down to power used to power the meter.
with everything plugged in the house uses just under 1 amp.
the freezer in the garage uses about 1.30 amps
the fridge freezer in the house uses about 1 amp.

the house uses about 240 watts when the fridges are not running. the heater in the fish tank is 150 watts but is not on constantly

so when both fridges are running including the house's normal running it works out as using 792 Watts add 150 watts when the heater in the fish tank turns on.

is that about right?

Got to have major surgery on both knees :'(

Really sorry to hear that....

Upside is, your other half will have to treat you like royalty for a few weeks -- if he doesn't already.... ;)

Anyhoo: good luck -- and I hope it's after Christmas....

PS: If it's keyhole surgery, you'll actually be back on your feet quicker than you'd think. (y)

I have to have grooves 'nibbled' in to my thigh bones where the knee joint is because at the moment I don't have one, it's just flat, which is why my knees dislocate all the time.

There's only 2 surgeons in the UK that can perform it :(

bloody electric bill despite cutting back on EVERYTHING is only £10 cheaper than last month! WTF?!
£95 quid were paying. and everything has been cut back on. now i am not doing any welding, not using the tumble dryer.. nothing. all home heating is done by gas.

we cant figure out why our electric bill is so high. ive even sold my desktop and got a laptop to try and save power! one TV in the house.. what the hell is going on?!

How much of your bill is in the daily standing charge?
If you don't use much electricity, get on a tariff with a low standing charge and higher unit cost. Apologies if you've already done this.
I recently received a letter saying that our previous fixed deal was coming to an end, but not to worry because they would kindly switch us on to a very similar sounding deal. I need do nothing!
So I didn't - for 3 months.
Then I realised my direct debit had risen by £45 per month (to £195!!)
So I rang up to ask why. The new deal was in fact their standard tariff.
So I asked to be switched to the best deal which in trhe end meant that mt direct debit came down again by...£45 per month.
So by not looking in to it 3 months earlier, or by being taken in by the tone of the letter, cost me £135. That's nearly the cost of 2 new sills for the Panda!!

Everyone is getting shafted with fuel bills :( don't forget though you can still get free solar panels fitted :D

My Brand New DS3 is less reliable than my 17 year old mk1 punto
Can't insure my self on my punto though :cry:

Major DS3 Faults - 6 in 3 months(n)
Major Punto Faults - 2 in 5 years(y)

Define major fault and reliability.

Hate to add that it is French after all :p

Major fault = car not usable

Punto (maintained by me) - Head Gasket (Caught early minor failure) and Rear Brake overheating resulting in bearing failure and damaged hub (Manufacture Faulty brake auto adjuster - warranty claim accepted same day)

Citroen (maintained by Citroen garage) - Loss of control x 3 (No response/loss of power), Corrosion though paintwork (Full respray required), Gearbox problems x 2 (4th gear fault)
All required a battle for warranty claim  (paint work took over 7 weeks for claim to be accepted, first claimed 2 weeks after owning the car:mad:)

Corrosion though paintwork (Full respray required) sounds like a reason for rejection to me, it will come back.
