What's made you grumpy today?

Towbar replaced the crash beam, 50kg or RSJ like beam, I've not looked as I suspect the boot won't close properly but it should be repairable (bloody better be as I'm only going to be able to get an easy dualogic bravo with this spec). She had an ambulance but everyone should be ok. Cars are replaceable and all that jazz. I think she hit me about 30 but damage doesn't look it (due to smart cars weight?). Will review and upload footage at some point.

Hope you're ok. 30 is a big hit.
Were there any witnesses?

They drove off when Ambulance arrived, wasn't too fussed though as all on camera, looking back at the footage was less than 30 when she made contact I'd say, but can't work out what the she was doing to hit me, will post video in a bit.

Ok my car broke down on the drive. The roadside assistance came out and said my battery was kaput? Fiat Qubo 2010 bought from Warrington Fiat.
I thought ok still in warranty but "OH NO" third year warranty is a dealership warranty. Battery was not covered the dealership replacement battery £144. so I bought elsewhere for £58 with two year warranty yes two years. When I got to the dealership i was hit with a £52 (diagnostic) visual inspection, so they looked at it and said it was Kaput also. Lucky enough three people were signing up to new vehicles when I had a go at the service manager who then wavered the inspection/ diagnostic charges. Good on him? On my way home the air bag amber warning light was on? I contacted Warrington Fiat by telephone and told them about the warning light they said we have not touched it, bring it back we will diagnose it. If its not covered though you will have another £52 diagnostic bill. I checked through the vehicle and went to the menu and found that the airbags had been reset (due to battery leads being removed) and required turning on/ reset. So I saved another £52. Why do Fist want to rip me off?????

I am now going to write to Fiat to tell them what I think of their three year warranty. Don't think I'll get anywhere though? Any thoughts?

You might do better by writing to the manager of the dealer. You didn't take your car to 'fiat' you took it to a fiat 'franchised' dealer and have no direct association with Fiat the manufacturer (other than they sell their cars). Fiat themselves offer you two years manufacturer warranty and it's the 'dealer' themselves that provide the third year warranty out of their own pocket so as a result are keen to lay on charges anyway they can.

You could also complain to Fiat direct regarding how one of their franchises have treated you. To be fair I don't think they've done anything wrong. You've saved yourself £52 by not being lazy and checking the basics (it's in owners manual) I think they are right to charge for problems they deal with no matter how simple.

No but I bought a new car with a three year warranty. Not knowing the third was a dealership warranty. Also why should I be charged £52 for a diagnostic check to tell me it's not in warranty. I have bought a lot of new cars in the past but never been charged to tell me it's not in warranty. Also why £144 when the last battery only just past it's 2nd year. I know they can go anytime but for that price?

The warranty information is there in your car's documentation with your new vehicle (or at least should be!)

That's the price they've offered to you for a genuine part fitted. You don't have to accept it. Personally once my genuine battery dies I always buy a Bosch "Silver" battery which has a 5 year warranty which would have still cost you less than 'genuine' battery from the Fiat Dealer.

I admit £52 for a battery check is excessive but you took it there for them to check it, you could have asked if batteries are covered on 3rd year warranty over the phone and took it somewhere offering free battery checks such as Kwik Fit.

dealer prices are often more for consumables. dealers dont buy in big stocks of batteries so don't get the discount other stockists do.
why spend all that money on a car with a warranty and not check what's covered

if it was me and i hadn't read what was covered I'd have just rang up and asked, if they said no would have just ordered off the net
