What's made you grumpy today?

What's made you grumpy today?

well, Once again i woke up like a brick, no wait, like a metal bar, no, like a wooden ironing board. I explain, a few years ago I bought a very expensive bed and they measured everything on me and they came up with a brilliant matress with a hole in the middle. They said it would be really good for my back and the matress would follow my body shape.

Well, after 4 years and plenty of fysiotherapy, chiropractor cracking my bones and massage I finally gave up today. I will go to the nearest futon shop and and get a nice hard, straight matress and I hope I will finally have a good night sleep after 4 years.

Hah, Dutch people love to complain, I really like this forum :). Hmmm actually writing this made me happy. I could post that in the other forum about what made me smile today :)

My neighbor using his mini tractor lawn mower at 8:30 this morning. Not a happy person, dont think my other neighbors are happy either... All of us should team up and honk horns and car alarms all at the same time at 6am on Monday morning.

In all serious, hes lucky somebody did not call the Police, its a disgrace cutting your grass that early... not even if it was a wee flymo >:|

LOL! Sorry, but what crime is cutting your grass at 8:30? Talk about wasting police time

8.30 seems reasonable time people on days will be up, people on nights probably be still up

And what about people who work mon-fri and are up at pre 8am (I'm guessing the majority of the UK's workforce) and the weekend being the only time to get a lie-in?

Would it really hurt to wait an hour or too so it's done at a more socially acceptable hour?.

I wouldn't be happy with my neighbour. Today I hade the neighbours out of control rug rats screaming NONE STOP for 30mins at about 8am. When I finally got out of bed and dressed etc I went over and politely suggested that maybe they should have controlled that situation better.

I reminded them how courtious I am when it comes to 'doing work on my car' which generally makes a lot of noise.

majority? given our shift towards service industries in the UK i doubt it
what about those who get days off during the week and have to deal with all the weekday noise?
if you are up pre 8am (oh the humanity!) then surely 0830 is a lie in?

Maybe the weekend is the only chance they get to do stuff like that, because they work mon-fri... Maybe getting up to do stuff at 8.30 is a lie-in, cos usually they're up at 6.30 for work?

Stop whinging and be glad they wern't doing it at 6.30...

Well I take into account that the vast majority of UK industry is service driven. Banks, Call Centre's, Tech Support, Mobile engineers etc etc

Which I then assume is standard UK office hours Mon-Fri 9-5 Sat 10-4 with a few deviances either side..

I seem to have hit a nerve here . I specifically picked my job and career in part due to the fact it's "sociable hours" as I cannot function AT ALL without proper sleep. Asking to sleep to 9am on a weekend isnt much to ask when I put 50hours+ in Monday to Friday at times.

no nerve with me
I have worked pretty much every shift pattern going
each has their pros and cons
I also accept others dont work to my patterns
you sleep till 9am,Im up at 6am or usually earlier
so 8.30 is unthinkable but 9am is fine?
shuld I just sit there in darkness for fear of waking up the 'normals'?

I like how my comment has started a debate on what time loud noises are acceptable. Some people saying wasting Police Time. Well, when my neighbor is cutting about in one of these (no pun intended ) Tractor Lawnmower I think its unacceptable cause it makes a racket! Also not to mention his strimmer too.

I was 18 just 2 years ago :D

I have still to get to that age :D
