My dads got a W reg 1.6 multipla. Its covered 140k approx. Engine sounds nice and quite. No unusual noises. It had a new gearbox 10k ago after the planet gears collapsed. It will have 12 months MOT. No tax. the overall condition is average. Its a horrible greeny blue colour thats gone a bit flat. He will probly polish it with the buffer before selling to bring the paint back up shiny. It doesnt have any history. It drives ok but now and then holds back a bit. No EML is on. Its had a new downpipe last year for the MOT. I think the rear engine mount is on its way aswell. This may be fixed depending on if it passes MOT with it or not.

In the above condition what would you say its worth approx. Ive suggested around £500 but i dont know what they go for to be fair. Ive seen them go for more than this but it does need the holding back fixing and maybe the engine mount. I might even have a look at it before it goes and see if I can sort the holding back out. Its been parked up for the last 10 months.

Let's be realistic here.

Multis are a limited market, you would only want one because you need one.

Your Pa's does sound to be one of the less desirable variants (petrol, green), so £500 seems fair...

Like Disgusted has stated. But a any car is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. Multipla's have there following, and normally a former multipla owner buys another multipla. Most Multipla's now even up to a final 2010 version are cheap in comparison.

Well. Its sold!!!

It went up for sale with £550 and sold for £500. First person to see it bought it. Took approx 2 weeks to sell. He had the usual scammers trying to buy it and send money via paypal and all that crap.

I was surprised he got as much as he did.

Cheers for all the help in the past.

More like amazing news! Right person at the right time i guess, i could understand it more if it was a JTD.

I agree. It just goes to show that a cars worth what the next persons prepared to pay. personally id have felt guilty selling it for £500 lol. Anyway. Its been collected and the deals done. He just needs another car now.

Hes looking at a Renault Clio . We already have 2 in the family. We dont need another :bang:

Sounds like two too many already! No, seriously, as French tat goes they are one of the better ones. Meganes are a money pit as are most Peugeot/Citroens but, hey, everyone likes differnt things and since i drive a Multipla i've got absolutely NO right to critisise anyones choice of car!

To be fair. We have had a few clios and they have all been reliable. However we have had nothing newer than 2000. I think thats when the fun starts with more electical modules, CANBUS and all the problems that come with it.

Well, hes jumped out of the frying pan and into the flames I think. Hes bought a 2002 1.2 16v clio for £550 which is very cheap. The guy even delivered the car to him. Does it set any alarm bells ringing - of course it does. The car runs well but he misinterprited the "SERV" light on the dash as a service light when infact is the engine manfunction warning light. Hopefully its nothing too serious. Something tells me the last owner wanted rid quickly. Maybe im wrong!! Ive not seen it yet but ive agreed to take a look at it over the weekend and hopefully one of the diagnostic interfaces ive got can read the codes. If not its a trip to a garage for it.

Yeah, i wish i had a quid for every one bought into work to have the service light reset, Vauxhalls are the same. It's usually a lambda sensor fault on Clios but if the code if for the downstream sensor it's quite often the cat at fault. Oh, and if there's no cambelt history get it done ASAP because that's a 16v party trick!

Cambelt and waterpumps been done. The car appears to run perfect. I checked it for fault codes on the ECU but there was no codes stored. At least thats what my scanner told me which i do not trust 100% especially on french cars. Ive also learnt that the ABS system is part of the "SERV" light and I know from experience of the scenics/megans that they suffer with broken ABS rings. Usually cracked. I might have a quick look or connect it to my scope and give the wheel a spin and see what it shows.

Unfortuantly I dont have anything that will connect with ABS on renaults. So this is nothing more than a guess. Costs nothing for me to check.

Yes ive had many vauxhalls with the spanner light on that "just wants it resetting after a service". Only problem its not a service light. Its a electronics/ fault light. Most of the buggers have 2 lights. A engine shape which is often emmisions related faults and the spanner light which is usually everything non emmisions related. Most of my experience is vauxhalls.
