Technical what's going on with my lights??!!

had my marea weekend for a month now and generally love it
it's a 2.0 20v hlx weekend (R reg)
never had a 5 pot before - love the smooth power (2nd gear is hilarious!)

but

had no dipped beam, just side lights or sides + fogs
replaced bulbs and also fuses for left and right

now have drivers side permanently on, and no change on passenger side (still no dipped beam)

any ideas? (i'm crap with electrics - ok swapping/replacing stuff)
or do i need an auto electrician?

i saw the guide on stalk switch problems, what do you reckon before i dive in and waste an evening?

It looks like you have tried the usual quick fixes. You could try some WD40 or similar in the stalk and giving id a technical jiggle. The console comes off with 3 screws underneath. The stalk unit is sealed but you should be able to get a bit in.
If that doesn't work get back to us and we'll have another think about it.

wd40 seems to sort anything!

this is my 1st italian car and it seems the reputation for dodgy electrics is true. i don't mind too much cos it's a great car for little money and that 5 pot sounds ace
