I'm looking at getting 2 new front tyres (205/40ZR17) so am doing some research beforehand. I've been told they don't need replacing yet but I like to look into these things well in advance :)

Any recommendations on what tyre to go for? Budget isn't too much of a concern (naturally nothing silly but I do know you get what you pay for). Want a hard wearing, good performing tyre. Currently have Toyo T1-Rs and have to say they grip well, just not sure on the wear.

Any recommendations on places to try? I've looked at CT Tyres, Black Circles and E-tyres. I will check out my local Invicta Tyres as they generally are well priced.

Ta muchly :)

big al

If your not bothered about them being budget tyres try National tyres.
They have a range of budget tyres called "Tigar"
I wasn't sure about them before i bought them but i also did a little research and found they were made in a factory in Montenegro but the company is owned by Mitchelin and they had recently invested 20 million in the same factory and region.
After talking to others that were using them i thought i'd buy some.
And from the day i did till the day the car died they never let me down.
They were as good in the wet as they were in the dry.

i swear toyos melt as soon as they touch the tarmac lol. the best lasting tyre i have used with good wet preformance and dry is the unroyal rainsport. had the second set put on about 6months ago last set did a good 2years of hanging round corners driving 25000miles roughly(as u know i dont hang about lol). if you want the best go for perelli p-zero's

i went for falken tyres i oredered them from motorworld and had them fitted i got the ZE 512's

one life, live it

pirelli p-zero nero's. got mine from jet tyres essex. made it to N. wales in 3days thats not bad at all. good price too

Avoid BF Goodrich G-Profilers, they grip like a mexican beggar, but you'll be shelling out for new ones inside 10k.

ive got falkens (fk541)and they are pretty damn good and cheap too.

have a look at camskillperformance, got mine from there top place! ;)

uniroyal rainsports on mine mate and really pleased with how much grip they give.. especially in the wet!

good tyres (ie high performance) never last long as they are a much softer compound, insy as you do a lot of miles i would go for a harder tyre..

I'm considering Pirelli P7000 or Pirelli P-Zero Nero.

Actually, the nero on reflection is probably a bad choice as it wears badly from what I consistently read.

i like Michelin PE2 but also think well of Bridgestone Potenza's

If you drive something with a reasonable bit of power, and/or drive enthusiatically, then its well worth stretching to about £80 a tyre for Bridgestone Potenza or Michelin Pilot Exalto2(PE2)

Otherwise, Uniroyal Rainsport or Bridgestone Turanza will stand you in good stead.

I've got vredestein sportrac on mine.
Cant fault them. Also had Hankook Ventus sport.
Good tyre for the money.

As god is my witness, I swear by Yoko Parada Spec2, don't know about Toyo's, Avon of old were ok. pirreli's crap, goodyear good but pricy, Michelin good in the wet.
However theses Yoko's are absolutely amazing get a full set and be prepared to think your Lewis Hamilton, not the best in the wet but a very predictable tire that you really can feel whats happening.
If you buy 'em and don't like I may have them off as a spare set.
