Hi,

Newbie here, and a potential Scudo Panorama owner. As our family is due to grow imminently, need an 8 seater vehicle, as the old VW Sharan no longer cuts the mustard. Sadly, can't afford new, but seeing the odd Panorama around *just* about our price range... Typically an 08 plate LWB model, with about 60-65k on the clock.
Have driven one, and found it nice and easy to drive, except the gear change seems a bit "sloppy" - especially first to 2nd - Is that an issue/sign of issues to come?

White smoke when first started, but clean after that, so guess the engine itself seems ok.
What else is there to look out for on such a vehicle?

Many thanks!

Ian

hi
I have a 2008, 7 seater conversion on a scudo lwb with 121k. I also had a sharan years ago. IMO, you cannot compare the quality of the two vehicles, the vw is far superior in all respects. Fuel consumption on mine is 32 mpg, nowhere near the government figure. Mine doesn't smoke on startup just overfuels a bit working hard going up a hill. Having said that if you can get the right vehicle at the right price and you go in with your eyes wide open then you could be lucky. I'm just getting on top of mine still have antiroll bar bushes to do and have an oil leak at back of the engine. Good luck, 8 seaters are thin on the ground at an affordable price.

Many thanks...
The upgrade is out of necessity too - the new addition takes us to 8

Roll bars seem to be a common thread, but is this bad design or something else? Seem easy enough to fix if you DIY though.

Main concern was on the sloppy feel for the gearstick - is this common, or is it because I'm used to an old Transit Tourneo and VW with their direct gearboxes, whereas I understand this one is a cable connection.

Sloppy gear change would be an issue, this was a common prob with old style scudo but not the new one. Also at 60K common probs are antiroll bar, yes bad design, flywheel, and turbo are all prone around 60K. Also check front elec windows go up and down ok. The mecanisim is bad for self desrtuction. Starter motor usualy around 50K with heavy use (ie taxi)

BigDong,
Many thanks... this was the detail I needed to help me walk away from the specific car... The flywheel had not been changed, and neither had the cambelt, and the gear change was concerning me.

Back to looking for another car
