It's one of life's mysteries. This week I've been checking insurance (fully comp) on numerous cars (cause mine broke) and I've been quite surprised.

To reinsure my 100sx Bravo is about £380.
For a Coupe 20V Turbo around £600.
For an Alfa 2.4JTD around £270 (how this is less than the Bravo I dunno)

It's really luck of the draw and a lot of phoning about.

BTW, you better get used to crazy insurance for the next 5 years :)

Soooo many things affect insurance these days, age, experience, ncb, postcode, average cost per repair for that model etc. BUT the 1st year is always a killer

My g/f got a Cinq 900 as her first car about 6 years ago. She was 22 with 5 years driving experience but 0 years No Claims - £1500 for the 1st year. My first insurance was 14 years ago, on a Tipo 1.4 and was £1400 then. I couldn't modify it for 2 years, purely because of the insurance cost.

That's why I had 3 different cars in 3 years when I started driving...Arnold clark did that free insurance deal and it was cheaper to just get a new motor :)

Then I crashed and lost my no claims...£1500 policy was the result :( When I hit 4 years NCB and could protect it I was well chuffed.

pmsl! So glad to be old. £350 fully comp on HGT with all mods declared :)

It does have it benefits Wimmy :) but my hair resembles that of a tabby cat and I'm starting to groan when bending over (to pick things up).

My 100sx costs me £500 tpft at the moment, and i'm 23. Quite a lot I think, but I can't be bothered to mess around changing looking for quotes, insurance companies, etc

my skoda is around the 400 mark, my 1.8 was 700, and so was my 1.4 2 years earlier, although that was with 1yr no claims, not 3 as i had on the 1.8

My renewal is 16th Jan, and that will be the 4yr mark for me. I'll be protecting that discount then. woohoo
