had my rear tyres changed today at work on the HGT. old ones were a toyo T1S with bald inner edge (wear rate on these is like my car has 1000bhp or something!) & a basic goodyear with 1.6mm all round. New ones are Uniroyal R550. Problem now is the car handles awful! WTF?! I can get the back end out in the dry without hardly trying!

Am i supposed to run them in?

Secondly i have found my steering to have gone weird as i can rock it slighty to left or right and the car is all over the place and is slow to react to my input. More lock prevents this but the car has gone from crap to drive to downright scary at average speed in the dry!

So...anyone want to buy it off me ;)

firstly uniroyals what the **** i sell tyres dude there ok in the wet but in the dry might aswell not have tyres at all dude as for the handling check ur tca's and get the tracking done and get urself some pirelli pzero's or p3000's great tyre's good price

I am truly and utterly amazed by how poor the grip is...i can safely say my old 1.2 nova with its pram wheels was quicker and more stable around corners.

P-zero's...don think they do them in the standard HGT size and even if they do i cannot get them cheap. I can get:

Pirelli P6000
Continental premium contact
Dunlop SP1
Michelin Pilot Primacy
Goodyear NCT5

all for half retail prices.

The Toyo's were quite good but bugger me backwards they wore out in less than 6000 miles - ahem.

pirelli or mich ur best bet where do u work also check ur drop link bushes aswell as ur tca bushes

Work for a Subaru dealership.

Safe to assume my choice in tyres was a bad one though it doesnt explain the dodgy steering fault.

I can only think my brakes are binding as the front of the car was not touched today and the brakes squeek a bit now.

Perhaps i should sell out and sell the car.

Mate. Get the Dunlop SP SPort01s all round in 205/50/15V's. Had them put on mine as well as getting the tracking done and it totally transformed the handling. Was running on Goodyear rears and Yoko A539 fronts before and I was having to crawl around the round things.

Shabash!

new tyres

don't you have to run in the new tyres for like 10 miles any way as they have that slippy texture when new?

great having new tyres and thinking they will be really good, there like new brake pads, when i first got them i thought the mechanic had done a right poor job but run in for 100miles their great now.
