What should I buy

Ok situation is I have the mad Punto JTD which is the Angel Tuning demo car and my daily hack as required. I also have the Barchetta which to be fair is now a pain in the arse so its going to be chucked in the Barn.

What should I run instead over the winter

There is a superb Lancia Beta Coupe 2000 that I really want - but er in doesnt and I know it would just end up in the barn for me to play with

Soooooo, I have a couple of £k for a boring car to tide over the cold months or I could trade inthe Punto and get a bigger car or I could keep the Punto and buy a Alfa 156 JTD (or even a V6 again)

I dunno what to do! The Barch is off for rest next weeekend so I need to move fast!

£1500 - what would you buy
or
trade the £5.5k punto and buy a £50 wreck and an Alfa JTD - but what reck

or another Bravo......

Your doing the right thing putting the Barchetta away for the winter mate
I asume you are surgesting keeping the punto and spending another £1500 on somin else. I take it you cant drive the punto all the time with it been a demo car? And if yoiu traded the punto in and got somin else would'nt you have to use that as a demo car to?

Well to be honest i'd just get £1500 Mk1 punto or a Bravo. Im running a 106 Pug as my 2nd car. Cost me £280

BUT hey........ That Alfa sounds like a plan

Craig, no and not the Punto HGT either. I ran an offer on the Punto forum but I didnt realise quite what a bunch of immature w4nk3rs they were, so I have just withdrawn the offer and the site sponsorship - you just cant help some people!

Ian, if the Bravo was a JTD I would snap your hand off!

Nige - I have a Punto, which I love, it's my 3rd Fiat. I spend a lot of time browsing any Fiat related forum simply because I'm interested, I seldom post coz it's not what I'm into, just like to see what's going on and I don't seek to judge.

I followed the recent links on the forum you speak of and hope, please, that you don't tar all us punto owners with the same brush. Don't want to get involved, it's nothing to do with me, but all the best with yer tuning and things.

i think a diesel mondeo is in order. Lets face it, £1500 would get you one from the last shape with every toy you could think of and it fills your requirement of being boaring!!!

I know it sounds daft but i used to have one.A Vauxhall Corsa 1.5 TD I used to love throwing that car around, was fast also, shame my sister nicked it :O(

I just found a real bargain for you, a 3.0 V6 alfa 75 for £1800 in auto trader web site. I bet you could get that for £1500, a lot of bang for your buck!

i know someone who's selling a p-reg astra estate. Excellent condition 1.9td, fairly high spec, alloys, central locking, etc, not sure how the model range works on astras. only downside is 120000 miles but you wouldn't know. But excellent engine, was his company car then he baught it for his wife to drive to work in. I have no idea what he wants or what its worth but i can find out if your wanting to go none-iti.

Mondeo - nope couldnt bring myself to that - it has to be Italian!

Ah the 75 - possibly the worst Alfa for many years - the 3.0 especially! I never was fond of them for some reason - ah I remember - they were shite to drive !

A 3.0 V6 Lusso 164 would be a choice only wifey cant reach the peddles so......

Hows about a renault laguna? They are decent cars, very comfortable and you can pick them up fairly cheaply. Also the 2.2 litre turbo diesel is a beast, and maybe you could remap it?

I know its not italian, but Renault is the new Fiat in my opinion.

Jonathan, go and wash your mouth out with soad and stand in the corner facing the angle. Renault indeed.

Strada Abarth - more tuneable than the HGT, but I am not entirely convinced its a good idead now. The whole reason for buying another car was to keep the Barch in the Barn during the winter and have another tin top - the Strada would end up in the Barn with the Barch knowing me !

Maybe a Marea 110ELX is back on and Dee uses the Punto!
