What oil was the 1.3 Multijet designed to use?

Hello,

I ran a search of the forum, but couldn't find an appropriate thread.

As the title states, what oil was the 1.3 designed to run? I have heard varying accounts with some saying it was always designed to run 5W40 and one source at the FPT manufacturing plant here in India saying the original design called for 15W40 but commercial considerations /tie-ups led to the adoption of 5W40.

I'd be grateful if someone provides some inside info as to what exactly was this engine designed to use.

As per page 222 of the handbook, SAE 5W-30 ACEA C2 grade totally synthetic lubricant FIAT Classification 9.55535-S1.
