Hi got a 2014 fiat Abarth automatic transmission 1.4 it's a 595 the last week. Thing is I don't know what oil to buy my Manuel lists 10w 50 but when I typed my reg in online it states something different ( I have tried a couple of different places) and when I I order a bottle of oil of Amazon it said oil doesn't match my vehicle. My manual dose say abarth 500 not 595 though and the diagrams do show a manual gearbox so I'm wondering if I have one. Could someone clarify please

Hi, 🙂

Oil can be a bit of a minefield, as FIAT often change the spec due to emissions, etc 🙄

I have "fussy" Twinair motors..
And have found Opie Oils. Give the most concise listing's based on vehicle Reg.

Some bulk sellers come up with 3 grades, Opie only 1

Have a look,

Let us know what you find 🙂

I agree with @varesecrazy above. I've bought from Opie and found them to be very knowledgeable. Their packaging is robust too, compared to some I've bought from other suppliers. Shop4parts https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/ is another particularly knowledgeable supplier who I use often - and there's a forum discount code for them - but only worth ordering if what you're buying is above the cut off point for free shipping. I haven't done an order to them for a while so don't know what that currently is.

Are we talking the engine oil or the gearbox oil , it's not clear?

If it's the engine fiat recommend Selenia 10w50 , I wouldn't go with anything else. (personally) , I just picked up a few recently at £29.99 per 2L can (and 10% off that with free delivery)

Engine oil

I bought this would it cause me problems if it's wrong I know I believe thicker oil is for higher temps it's damp and wet at the moment.

Total is an old and respected refiner and manufacturer. If 10W-50 is the correct viscosity then it's spot on. The ACEA and API specs are not the very latest, I believe a C3 rating produces less pollution and is "kinder" to stuff like Cats, but it's of marginal benefit in our simpler engines and I have seen comments to the effect that the older ratings actually provide more robust lubricity? I think you could probably use this with confidence. I bet Total will have an oil finder app, why not look it up?
