hi there all, after fixing the problem i had in another thread ( cheers for all your help )
i have noticed a connector there but is not connected to anything, so im wondering if it is for a alarm as this would be the usual place for it.

if it is could i get one and just put in there, or do i need a certain one to work off the remote??

its not a issue at all, but if its there then might as well use it

Are you sure it's not connected to anything? It seems to have wires going in one side (pink/white) and out the other (grey/brown)...

I think it's black tape holding the connector to the other wires making the connector look bigger than it is.

Can't see from the picture what side the connector is. The siren for cars fitted with an original alarm is on the driver's side under the scuttle panel.

The only other electrical equipment under the scuttle panel is the wiper motor and possibly a connector for heated windscreen washer jets if fitted.

it is on the passenger side of the car.
it is not connected to anything, there is just some tape holding it there around the cables.

i havent checked the other side, but everything on the car works.

just not sure what it is. i have a few connectors under the bonnet and not connected to anything, and its always been like that and doesnt affect the car.

Youl go mad if you try to find out what each loose connection in the Stilo should be doing. I guestimate i have found about 12 so far in my car.

Lol, yer its mad. Bloody cables everywhere.

Well, this cable in particular I thought that it has to connect to something, but the only thing I could think of is an alarm.

I have got the double click thing on the key fob and the red light flashing on the door card but no noise of an alarm.

so my thought was, do stilo`s have an alarm fitted standard and it so would it connect to the cable i have found

Most manufacturers, including Fiat, make the main wiring looms with spare conectors for all the available optional extras. If an option is specified it would be supplied with a short section of wiring so it can be connected to it's relevant connector in the loom.

It's cheaper that way, rather than making a different main loom for all options. There will be spare connectors all over the car for the options.

No... the alarm was an optional extra and would be built into the Body Computer if fitted. Just the siren for it goes under the scuttle panel.

Not sure whether the connector in your picture is for the siren. The wiring diagram shows the wire colours for the siren as different to those in your picture, but the wiring diagram is often wrong on colours.

ok that makes sence.
so as i havent got a alarm on my car (dont think i have) could i just connect one up to that???
and if yes then could you advise me on just a normal noise one, doesnt need to be special just as long as it makes a noise.

If your car has a factory fitted alarm, it will have the siren under the scuttle panel and ultrasonic motion sensors and two extra switches in the front roof light/switch panel. The ultrasonic sensors are the two holes in the ends of the panel as in the picture below.

To retro fit an original alarm, you would need an alarm equiped Body Computer, siren, ultrasonic equiped roof panel and the extra wiring.

I believe several manufacturers supply an aftermarket alarm system capable of being operated by your existing remote control key fob. I think there's also a Fiat Linea-accessory META one that's often for sale on eBay.

Thank you. I have just seen a stilo abarth siren on eBay. And it has the same connector on it as I have. So will it work if I buy it and just connect it up. But don't know if it would work as I haven't got the sensor thing on the car. Just want a noise when I shake the car that's all.

Yer I don't want the sensor in the car. I only want the alarm if the car shakes. And iv fitted one before and that's all you did was connect it to the power and a loose cable to the body a d that's it, but it had a separate remote.

Will I need a body computer just to use as a noise when the car shakes?

And I for one am glad they do. If they didn't, a lot of people on here wouldn't have cruise control...

Erm cruise will only maintain the speed set it by the bloke behind the wheel...

I know. :D But I still blame it.

The cruice control was set at 85 km/h. Then I had to slow down to 60 km/h through an autpass/toll road station to get the automatic payment done, and then the cruice control shut itself off. Afterwards I got caught speeding in a camera (like the one in my previous thread) doing 110 in an 80 limit. I am lucky it wasn't 111, as the fee would be £890 GBP.

I blame the cruice control for not activating itself again. :D

well i just think that they are really dangerous. they could brake at any time. remember about a year ago in america somewhere there was a guy driving with it on and no way of turning it off and he was police escorted all over the high way just to box him in to slow the car down.

thats why i wont have one.
