Cruise control doesn't brake the car, it just maintains the road speed at whatever the driver sets it to. It switches off by the column stalk switch or whenever you touch the brake or clutch pedals. In the unlikely event of all those safety features failing, you just turn the ignition off. The guy you refer to above was American so probably didn't think of that. ;)
 
well i just think that they are really dangerous. they could brake at any time. remember about a year ago in america somewhere there was a guy driving with it on and no way of turning it off and he was police escorted all over the high way just to box him in to slow the car down.

thats why i wont have one.

Sorry Chris, but you clearly don't have a clue how a cruise control works.
 
No, I do know how it works and have used it many times but have seen so many issues with it on family members cars. And they were all new cars and still was failing.

I do agree that it is really good thing to use especially on long journeys on motor-ways.
BUT me as a person dont trust them anymore regarding the issues that could happen.

my father in law uses it everywhere, literally everywhere lol
