General What is it worth? '07 Panda 4x4

I've had my fun over the last couple of years and as I feared, I've put far more money into the car than made sense ( I just knew the car would get under my skin....). My only issue with the car is that it's a bit tiresome to drive on the fairly regular 250+ mile trips I do for my photography hobby. A Yeti 4x4 beckons...

2007 Panda 4x4 1.2 petrol, with 123,000 miles. Full service history(!) and runs perfectly. Has aircon, although that stopped working over the weekend (booked in for a check later this week). Past its MOT a couple of weeks ago, after failing on a side repeater bulb and mis-spaced number plates (oops...)

In my time with the car I've done the following:

• New discs and pads all round
• New shocks x 4
• New sump
• New viscous coupling
• New clutch slave cylinder
• New spark plugs, leads, coils.
• New coolant hose (block to bulkhead)
• New thermostat
• New ARB droplinks x 3
• Seats replaced with Abarth 400 seats
• Head unit replaced with JVC double-DIN wireless carplay
• All speakers replaced with new Alpine units (inc door tweeters)
• New aerial base
• Pioneer 200W slim subwoofer on the boot floor
• Garmin dashcam (hard-wired)
• 120W LED spotlamps
• Replacement twin-tone horns
• Rusty sill professionally repaired - you'd never know it had been done
• Replacement hatch gas struts

I reckon I've spend something like £3k on it in total

Negatives

It's cosmetically rough. Scratches on the roof and bonnet. Both bumpers have peeling paint. A handful of minor dings elsewhere.

My philosophy with the car has been to maintain it properly, but not to be bothered about the cosmetics. This approach has served me really well, as it's liberating not to have to worry about the occasional scratch or scuff.

So - any ideas what it might be worth? - honest opinions welcome (I'm a realist!)

(happy to shift this to Classifieds if it's breaking any rules, but it genuinely is a "what is it worth" thread...)

Insurance value is £1.4k

I can see 6x for sale ranging from £995 to £2495

Most are around the £2K mark

But that the advertised price not the selling price

The good new its in demand, what is worth is what someone is willing to pay


The new viscose coupling is a good selling point as they are coming to an age where they are starting to fail and it's not a cheap repair, probably putting towards the higher end of the price range

As the saying goes, it's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it. This would sell for over 3.5 euro in the Netherlands if the steering wheel was on the left side. It's a classic, sell it as a classic! Another option would be to store it and let the historical value build up. These are becoming rare beauties.

Hi @NigelO, what price did you get in the end? I'm in a similar situation with a 2005. Only 60k miles, aesthetically it's still very pretty, mechanically ok, but showing it's age. Nothing major replaced yet, some welding, I think it needs a new thermostat.

Didn’t sell it - at least not yet…

It passed its MOT after fitting a side repeater bulb and some legal number plates, and I’ve just had it serviced. Sometimes I’ll drive it and decide I want to upgrade to something a bit better at long journeys, and other times I can drive it and be perfectly happy.

While I’m un-decided, I’ll hang onto it, unless the right offer comes along

Hmmm... Not to mention oldest, and definitely the yellowest. But there's something really special about how funky it looks, parked outside Sainsbury's, how you can beat 99% of anything else away from the lights on a damp day, for several yards at least. And if you rev it up in second gear it sounds like you're going really fast despite that you've not made it to 30 mph yet. Bhp is just an illusion.

Personally, I blame the Italians.

Or try a twin air. They are so good on a long run. Much less tiring noise. I am thinking of a sound proofing kit though. Your looks like a great car for someone. Prices being what they are ask £3K, and invite offers. The prices are still high and it sounds really sorted, Someone cold fairly easily tidy the paint. I reckon its worth £2.5 if the asking prices seen are anywhere near realistic. A few hundreds just buys a bag of nails these days.
