General what have you done for her lately

went out today, won't be using it again 'till snow/ice goes.... lol

seems to be lacking at low revs giving a sort of turbo lag as full power comes on about 3000, not sure why, cleaned up contacts in distributor cap, but no difference. think it's electrical so might replace the distributor internal bits, whatever its called? going to whip out the spark plugs too just to check its fuelling/firing right.

found out what was wrong with it, had the sparkplug well full of water! the one closest to the cambelt. the spark plug lead sort of sealed in all the water so not allowing it to evaporate away, bit of electrical spray and also in another one that had the sparkplug slightly rusty and off i went, **** it's fast!! :slayer:

well i finally got around to changing the passenger side rear quarter panel, it had started bubbling last year and had rotted through over this winter. i've washed her, t-cut her and polished her and also give the inside a good clean, she looks like new again now. going to get rocker cover powder painted over the next couple of weeks and see if i can get the spoiler painted and fitted. and last but not least she is back on the road on thursday:D

on the 31st i sorned it :(

but before doing that i took it out for one of the best drives i've ever had in it! everything is working beautifully so flat out running up cheddar gorge with the cliffs echoing to the sound of the engine working as it should is still in my mind.

got a few jobs to do, going to give it a thorough clean inside and out, also need to sort one of the wheels out as it has a slow puncture.

taking the MG for it's MoT next week, which is why i haven't taxed it again just yet, depends how much that fails and whether i'll need the money to fix that (it needs a new windscreen which is £110) which is currently my main priority but if it needs a lot more work (money) then Fiat is being immediately retaxed, i'm not letting go of it just yet!

well MG spectacularly failed it's MoT, only 8 items on the failure sheet, 4 of which were significant rust related hmmmm... still think i can rescue it though, but might take slightly longer than first anticiapated.

need a new nearside fog light for tipo. :( i'm assuming a stone smashed it, the roads round here are turning into gravel tracks :(

flushed the brakes through yesterday. what came out has more in common with crude oil than brake fluid! :yuck: brakes feel different, not sure if it's a good different or if the system hasn't bled properly. the cap for the auto bleeding didn't fit on the resorvoir properly, kept blowing itself off so had to get my sister to pump the brakes.

seems to stop better though....

if you have a power bleeder then 2 quick grip clamps will keep it in place thats what I have to use,

Just changed the tailgate struts, the old ones just gave up.

Got a pair for £30 on eBay, not bad, easy to fit and did the trick.

Now to see if she'll scrape through the MOT for another year....

mine are a bit temperamental actually. it's a bit annoying when it stays up just long enough for you to start putting something into the boot and it then clouts you on the back of the head!:bang:

it's F*cked :(

took it out for a spin last week, all was going well, then oil pressure suddenly dropped to zero accompanied by rattling. :(

last checked oil the week before, so it's not like i've let it run dry either.

bottom end is tapping/rattling. i can't afford to spend more money on it, especially as i have another car which needs similar money spending on it, but worth more.

Anyone interested in it send me a PM, but will probably have to cut my losses and break/scrap it.:(

what have i done lately..humm? well iv sandblasted four wheels and sprayed themm all so they all look brand new :D iv replaced brake hoses on the front and bleed the brakes taken the starter motor off and greased it up! it didnt have ANY speakers in it so iv installed two 4inch speakers :) bitch to get the wiring done :( and soon im gonna clean all the handbrake linkage up (y)

In the middle of replacing intake/exhaust gasket and carburetor vacuum hoses. And then installing LPG system! :)

Bought some Team Dynamics pro race 1's 15x7. Changed oil, repaired PAS leak and refilled, new discs and pads. Went and ragged the **** out of it at Lydden.

watched the videos, Very short track, but car is put through it's paces, good to see it in action.

My sedici is still sat on the drive, thinking about taking the head off to have a look at it, as it won't cost anything to do (i can't justify spending money on it) and may show what's wrong, which i suspect is bottom end, but could be something else.

to take the head off, do i need to make any marks to time it up, if it's then used again, either on same block or sold on? or are the timing marks already on the head?

Start with simplest, take off cam cover, have a look to see if everything is right, which i'd imagine to be the case, but could be a loose tappet or something but i doubt it, also a chance to inspect cams for wear, which would be a pain as they're the valuable bit tbh.

while head is off cling film over engine to keep out any dirt. and inspect bores for marks etc.

right sort of thing to do or would i be best just leaving it well alone?

On the diesel the timing marks are nicks on the cogs and cowls but it will help to mark up the position of where every cog is with paint marks before you take the belt and then the head off.
The trouble is if you take the head off and there is still no evidence of what the problem is or it is somewhere in the bottom end then you are not really any further forward and I would lack the resolve to put it back together as (a) i know it still won't work and (b) added to which it also really be refitted with new gaskets etc. So I'd be left with a load of rusting bits cluttering the place up. The block face and bores are at risk of rusting and dirt ingress once exposed so I would coat metal with light oil and stick some paper towel in the bores.
