What does the J in JTD mean ?

What does the J in JTD mean ?

the powertrain website.
Its just that as vauxhall use cdti
Alfa just use jtdm as their badging for the new mjet engines as to look differentiate themselves from fiat.
Ya know
Fiat = multijet
Alfa = used jtd as the old engines and jtdm as the new multijet engines
Vauxhall = cdti
Saab = tid and ttid
Etc,just makes more sense that way

The original common-rail diesel technology, developed first by Fiat and known as UniJet, used two injections of fuel into the cylinder. This radically improved the noise and vibration created by the traditional diesel engine. The next development that came created more control over the injectors, both by the computer and the physical behaviour of the injectors themselves. Named for its ability to have up to seven injections into the cylinder each time, the MultiJet was born.;):cool:

so the mjet and jtdm engines are all multijet

the ones with just jtd on the back whether it be 8, 16 or 20v, single or twin cam are uni(2)JTD engines;)

jet thrust is only used to describe the alfa JTS (Jet Thrust Stoichiometric). its a completely different system to JTD.

thought as much but wasnt going to say anything, just go to fiats or alfas website and youll find out it is uniJET, so the J is JET

1st sereis uni

2nd Multi

fiat use the full multijet name

alfa use jtdm which would be jet turbo diesel multi, which makes sence? no?

yeah the JTD does smoke, but do you notice the smoke coming out of your 'CLEAN' petrols exhaust? ermmm nope, basically call it invisible but deadly smoke :rolleyes::devil:
