WHat does the e in i.e mean?

I was jsut wondering I assume the i is for injection, but wondered what the e stood for?

Lol! Yes, I think the Italien for i.e. was pretty obvious to translate to English!

Talking of which, you might be interested to know why Vauxhall uses the badge GT/E on some of their older cars. It actually comes from the fact that a lot of Vauxhalls are German designs by Opel (only the UK has Vauxhall, the rest of Europe has the same cars badged as Opels).

The GT bit is pretty obvious (Grand Tourer/ Tourismo), but the 'E' bit signified injection. This is because the German for injection is 'Einspritzung'. Try saying that after a few beers!

But anyway....

Just to add. Remember an old mate owned an Opel Monza GSE. That was 6 cyl 210 bhp monster. A large coupe with bucket seats. With the same digital panel as the Kadett GSI. I guess the model names are different as well. I think the car referred to as a Nova has always been the Corsa over here.

Einspritzung is easier for me as a norwegian to say 10 times after 10 beers, because the words actually translates easily from german. Einspritzung (D) / innsprøytning (N).

Have to work now... :)

Yeah... I had a feeling it would be of enormous interest for all of you. :)

It should be a possibility to remove your posts when there is no doubt it contains no information of relevance to anyone. Haha. Just empty words with no substance.

Am I doing it again???

Well, "Submit Reply" next.

You're grasp of English is excellent, better than some of our English members.

Thanks Steve...

Well, I have to credit Roberta Willams for the English language. I developed an imperfect language years ago, in the 80s, when my friend´s computer-freak-father (there were some at that time as well) got King´s Quest from Sierra On-Line (founded by R. Williams as far as I can remember). Even before I got English classes in school.

"Pick a carrot" and "look around" etc. This led to a massive interest of Sierra´s adventure games with the peak of Quest for Glory. So computer games can be good for something.

Not strange the language is falling apart. Now it is just down to violence, rather than speaking... Both as computer games and in real life. Moral?

Anyway... i.e. stands for electronic injection. :)

And thou shalt be said - another man wept for completely trashing the thread. Aka Morty Mort.
