Hello,

I have a Fiat Ducato Multijet 100, 2.2, 2008.

When i start the engine after having been turned off a couple of hours (no matter if it's a cold or warm day) the idle is struggling. This disappears if the engine becomes just a little bit warmer. I think the idling has gotten worse in the last month though so i'm not sure if the idle is 100% when the engine is warm neither, but almost 100% for sure.

What have been done is the following;

Changed MAF sensor
Changed MAP sensor
Changed glowplugs

What i am a little unsure about but don't have the money for looking up at the moment is the following;
Injectors (there is some leakage, either fuel or oil, from one of them i think).

Perhaps it can be the EGR valve too? I'm not sure....Or a vaccum leak somewhere perhaps...

In one way it seems likely that it could be the fuel injectors, but, should that disappear when the engine becomes a bit warmer? Perhaps yes though since their precision is most needed when it's cold or? I also read that a vaccum leak may disappear when engine gets warmer due to hoses expanding etc.

Another thing i noticed during the winter when it was very cold outside one day was that it sounded like the engine went on 3 cylinders for some second after start - perhaps this is also a symptom of bad injectors. This current rough idling was not as apparent then though.

Anyways, i know that idling issues are very difficult to narrow down without proper equipment but since i think the sound of this rough idle is quite particular, it sounds like it goes up & down and dissapears when engine gets warm, maybe it's possible to have some type of reasoning about it.

Kind Regards
Jonathan

could be a bad Turbo boost valve causing vacuum leak these get worn out and start over heating or sticky egr valve due to vacuum leak from hose they do start to breakdown over time and split

The 2.2 engine is the Ford Puma engine. You may have injector issues but a very common problem on this engine is failure of the EGR valve. Replacement or blanking is the solution.
