Technical What cable for MES connect to engine?

I bought a KKL Vag cable and the 4 coloured cables (yellow, green, red, yellow).

Ive been able to connect to the airbag ECU with the red cable and now i wanted to connevt to the engine.

MultiEcuScan doesnt seem to want to connect with the KKL and Yellow cable (CAN system). Is the correct setup or do i need an ELM327 cable?

(I tried to connect my cheap chinese ELM327 bluetooth, that connects to TorquePro bur not my laptop for some reason).

any ideas how to connect MES to the engine (its a 2005 4x4)

What does the supported vehicle list say?

On my new car it would not connect to much..
The list said I needed an adaptor (not needed one for years..)

Both ELM and KL seem to work..

What are you seeing with a Scan for Devices?

To connect just to the ECU

No Adaptor Adaptor needed with either the elm327 or KKL

In device manager is there any yellow exclamation marks

You have to install drivers

Then adjust some settings

To get the KKL to work

The Bluetooth should just work, once paired

It can only pair to one device you might have to shut your phone off or disconnect it first if you have already connected to a phone, to work with a laptop as well

You don't say if its Petrol or Diesel,

But it Should.. work with a bare ELM327 or VAGCOM KKL according to the lists

You can either :
select engine and ECU variant

Or

Scan for Devices..
I tend to SCAN.. as there are often a choice of ECU
