Fiat Palio 1.2 Active, 2009 model:

I drove from home to shopping center (7km) - parked car for 30 minutes, then to airport (15km) - parked car for 2 1/2 hours, then to another
shopping center (23km) - parked car for 30 minutes. When trying to start car it would not start (front head lights were very dim, central locking only worked on front doors). When trying to start car I could hear a clicking noise from box near battery (I think its the solenoid). Tried starting with jumper cables, front head lights were bright, but car would still not start.
This is the first time it has happened, what do you suspect could be the problem ?

Thanks Peter, I found the following using google search:

If car won't jump start check these:
battery, solenoid, starter.

Battery drain:
corrosion on the chassis end of the earth lead which connects the chassis to the engine block.

If it's rapid and total drain:
could be alternator diode pack - some say alternator is weak area in palios.

auto-electrician checking current drain across the fuses (Battery drain test).

The alternator is not a known weak point on Palio's...!
I bet the battery has reached the end of it's life.
As your car is a 2009 model, the fitted battery is probably made in 2008, so about 4- 5 years old, and that's average on most batterys......

Original battery was dead, I assume it had a dead cell or 2. Replaced Willard 612 with SABAT 618 - 2 weeks ago, no starting issues anymore.
