I just tried to post something about my Panda on a BMW owner's forum.
When I looked at what I had written, "Panda" was automatically substituted as "monochrome Chinese furball". What a cheek!
What's going on?

That's odd - surely they know that you couldn't fit 'Monochrome Chinese Furball' onto the boot?

TBH - I'm surprised that you're prepared to admit that you've been frequenting a B*W owners forum - sorry I had to blank out part of the brand name as the profanity filter wouldn't allow my post;)

I don't mind admitting to that - especially when I tell you the circumstances.
I also have an old 7 series BM with which I have been having quite a lot of trouble recently, and the final problem may well result in it being written off as the fuel tank has rusted through and costs a lot of money to replace. I was making the point on the BM forum that my little Panda which is even older, has plenty of serious rust, but not on the fuel tank. But it turns out that they used to have a forum member who was always going on about his Panda, so they inserted a filter so that the word got substituted for "monochrome chinese furball".
The mod has just realised it was still there , 10 years later, and has just removed it!!

As it's Christmas I'm going to mention BM's too

I'm sure pooroldcodger is the exception to prove my rule that they are all driven by blankety blanking blankers (hey the filter's working on here! ;) ).

It does remind me of someone I used to work with who was bleating on and on about her wonderful husband's new fantastic all singing BM - someone else tried cutting her down to size by saying that she in her experience she thought all new BM's came with a free labotomy......... The answer came back "oh I don't know what extras it comes with" - she never did understand why we all had hysterics!! :ROFLMAO:

Haha, nice one!

Problem is: a lot of these blankety-blanks have now migrated to driving Audis (and I loved the succession of Audi 100s I had in the 1990s...) -- so you now have two lots of blankers driving German cars to watch out for....
Thanks for your concern guys, but I promise hand on heart that I had got all the gung-ho driving out of my system a long time ago ( I took my IAM test when I was 21 for goodness sake!) so now I drive the BM when it's running that is :( , as though I am a highly professional chauffeur hired to carry a racing driver. I.E get them there in one piece but without trying to impress anybody!

And just to break all the rules at once, as it's Christmas, here is the beast in question, which looks like shortly to be broken.

Very true, but unfortunately she has reached that stage where a few things are going wrong, and when they do, it is costly.
New fuel tank £840 + fitting, or do it myself with help, which means complete exhaust off (all one piece from the manifold to twin pipes), prop shaft off, fuel pipes disconnected etc). In other ways a pig to do on stands on your drive.
Then new rears at about £180 each. And that's assuming nothing else wrong at mot time in a few weeks.
