I've gone ahead and ordered one of the 'uprated' balanced/reinforced fans from Ricambio. I would've preferred to get it from somewhere like D'Angelo, but they wanted more for shipping (120 EU) than for the part. Looks like the same part everyone else has, so we shall see.
I do have this nagging fear of a repeat failure, so while I might just install the part when it arrives, I'll definitely pursue the upgrade idea and if for some reason I need to heave the motor out, I'll go ahead and implement it.
Below is my 'finalized' design. Countersunk holes to accept screws that would go through the fan and into the hub itself - hence the need to have the motor out to go this route. Between a spacer to spread the load and screws to keep it affixed to the hub, there's no way it should ever see that failure mode again.
