hello there,

I have just bought a cinquecento sporting abarth 1.1.

Everything seems to work well for couple of weeks, though yesterday the ac was blowing cold. The temp guage appeared normal, no overheating.

This was odd as i only topped up the water the week before.

I stopped soon as i could, put water in, the water seemed to have gone down more than it should, was about 2/3rds full but seemed enough for a/c to work.

I topped up water anyway and then a/c worked fine for some reason.

I figured there may be a block in a pipe, as the water is quite dirty needs flushing, or an airlock.

Seems no sign of water in oil or anything like that.

all the pipes from raidiator etc warm normally.

There are no leaks of water as far as i can see.

May be a radiator problem?

I want to eliminate the possible dirty water factor by flushing -

So my question is, how to flush? I cannot locate any drain plug so would it be a case of removing pipes?

I'm getting a Haynes manual but since I don't have it thought to ask here. . .

Any other ideas tips or oddities about Cinquecento Sporting Abarth 1.1 1995 that might explain this kind off thing, gratefully received! :)

Are you just using water or a proper coolant?

If the coolant looks dodgy, then yes flush it out and refill with proper coolant.

Edit: having a proper coolant will help to locate where you are loosing it from too as it will coloured stains behind.

its just water at the moment. Tested it out again and no further problems, I guess it may well be some sediment.

There are many weep points on a Cinq, particularly if incorrect coolant has been used.

There is a core plug behind the box that weeps, the water pump can do so too as can the 'o' ring on the cross block rail.

Make sure you bleed the system (2 bleed screws) when filling to avoid an airlock/hot spots.
