General Warranty 5yr or 3yr

Hi.

Can someone on here give me a straight answer.
Do Grande Puntos now (as of today) come with a 3yr or 5yr warranty?

Fiat.co.uk say 5yr and dont mention anything about it haveing to do with finance offers.

Dealers don't seem to know even different people at the same dealer have given me different answers.

Thanks for any help. Why is it so hard to get a straight answer from Fiat.

Not sure about the finance affecting it...

I think its only very later GP's that come with 5year warrenty - as advertised on the TV with the re launch of the S2 i know that all the bravos have 5year warrenty! If its brand new you should have a 5year warrenty plan i would have thought. If its 2nd hand nearly 100% it'll only be 3year warrenty - which is 2years manufacter and 1year dealership warrenty

I had a long sit down with someone at fiat just a few months ago about the same thing.

After a few people saying that yes ALL GP's come with a 5 year warranty, then some saying NO, only NEW GP's come with 5 years we got together to try to get to the bottom of it.

Turns out, according to Fiat, that only cars bought at list price can be provided with a 5 year warranty, at which my reply was "who the hell buys a car at list?!"

But after all that my brother in law bought a new GP 1.9 Sporting at just over £8000 ( Obv a discounted car) and it's been confirmed with a 5 year warranty.

SOO, answer would be, they'l give a 5 year warranty when it suits them.

Will Try the number tomorrow. Its doesnt seem to be working very well today. Got cut of once. Then put on hold for ten minutes, had to hang up in the end because the music was so awful.

What if I purchased a Series2 GP and was not given the 5 year warranty? Where do I stand in getting in touch with Fiat and negotiating/arguing with them to extend the warranty for me

im sure the extra years are by the dealership, so check your dealership warrenty card and argue it with the dealership

The more I think about it though, the more I think to myself is the 5 year warranty (obviously after the first 3 years) worth the paper it is written on? What exactly will they cover in the 4th and 5th years? Probably the plastic interior.

When my warranty runs out in november I intend buying a warranty from an independent company like Warranty Direct.I have had dealings with them before,and know them to be kosher. I hasten to add ihave no connection with said warranty company.

Spoken with a salesmen at my dealer.
Not the salesman i'm doing the deal with. And i was told its 5yr for all new Grande Puntos. When i clarified the word 'all' he said yes 'all'. I clarified again 'all' as in every single one he said, "yes all as long as it was purchased at list price."

I pointed out like a user above me that cant not be true as no one ever buys acar at list price. So now i'm waiting to hear back from the salesman i'v been dealing with.

Ok, So i've just spoken to the dealer and the saleman i'm dealing with.
Its 3yr Warranty from Fiat, No warranty from dealer at. I tried pushing but because of the discount i got they were not going to move.

So the warranty as is, is better than the old 3yr warranty of 2yr fiat 1 yr dealer.They had.

Apparently the 5yr warranty 3yr fiat and 2yr dealer (may be other way around i have to many conflicting answers) is only for none discounted cars, and since i got them down from the list price of 9940 and even their own discount of 7,990 to 6490. I Don't have to much to crumble about i guess. Plus i get Tax 1Yr AA, and ohh 15 pounds of Petrol. (Which should get me out the door

)

So just waiting for the devliver date now. Its not even got a reg yet.

How can Fiat advertise a 5-year warranty and up to £2,000 off list price, then turn round and say you can't have both?

I know which one I'd choose though...

When I bought my series 2 Grande Punto a few months ago (at a time when Fiat's TV advertising was promoting the 5 year Warranty) I was told by my dealer that the 5 years cover was ONLY available if I paid the full list price of the car. I decided to take the £2.5k discount instead!

As mentioned previously, I think its when it suits them !
I managed a discount and a 5 yr, becuase the salesman knew there was no way I was gonna have the car without 5yr, and no way I was paying list lol.

I saw a different salesguy on the pick-up as the one I dealt with had a day off, and he was quite taken aback that I had the 5 with the discounted price, but I got my confirmation papers yesterday
