Hi, well where do I start with this one..I decided to replace the front flexi hoses as they were worn and chafed, simple job..not! Both brake pipes and their unions were seized and had to be replaced, so I did.
Then came bleeding the brakes, n/s/f bleed nipple snapped so I acquired another caliper and fitted new nipples to both front calipers, then bled. Car was briefly back on the road (brakes felt ok but not perfect) until I noticed the handbrake warning light (!). This is when I thought that air must have got into the system and that I should bleed the rear brakes to clean the system (needed fresh fluid anyway ).
....But then both rear cylinders were seized and both rear brake pipes were badly seized and fell apart. So 2 new cylinders and 2 new pipes, I shaped these and then installed them. BUT then the old cylinder leaked as I was removing it onto the shoes :bang: so time for new shoes
Finnnnaly I got the chance yesterday (only day off work) in the pouring rain to change the cylinders, then the shoes, go back to garage to get correct union (gave wrong one), then bleed the rears and bleed the fronts again! After 2-3 litres of fluid and lots of air they were finally bled!! :woot: Adjusted shoes up (although think right side needs adjusting again as is creaking slightly).
And it was back onto the road again and low and behold the warning light is still on but this time it is on constantly (apart from once when it went off 1 second?), unlike last time where it was more intermittent.
So I know this light can mean handbrake sensor but it seems too much of a coincidence, also the pads aren't any more worn than they were before and the fluid is full and completely bled.
Could it be a pad wear sensor because I got a different nsf caliper? Any help on this guys is appreciated?
P.s. Sorry for the newspaper article!
