VW Golf GTI Mk2

Introduction

As some of you know already, I no longer own a Fiat.

There werent anymore I actually wanted to own again so I decided the only option was to go for a car that Ive wanted since I first started driving. A Golf GTI.

Bought it last week and have to say its a great car. Very quick, very torquey (being an 8v), yet amazingly economic. Averages at 38mpg and ive only used just under half a tank doing 200miles since buying it. Cant complain (y)

When I bought it, the paintwork was red, just a little dull. I polished the bonnet and roof by hand and they came up stunning so decided to buy a rotary polisher. Spent all day today cutting the paint and polishing it up. Its come up stunning. Interior is mint and the engine is top. Very smooth and no nasty rattles or noises :) Not bad for £716.

If anyone fancies a peek, ital be at the stoke on trent meet this month.
Chris, why!? engine swaps are 10x easier than fiats, just take the front panel off and put the new engine in, get a GTi lump (so cheap its unbelievable, can even get them free sometimes from some VW club members) stick it in, days work tops i think. Cant sell this, its a minter!

I know how it feels to just want to get rid of a car, its a pity as its a nice motor. But I think the real reason is you want something else, its too easy to fix to be the reason to sell it.

Money isnt the problem. Time is the problem. I know Your all saying it could be done in a day but it cant with it needing to be skimmed and all that. Not exactly overrun with engineering motorshops around here and would need another car to take the head to one, which I dont have access to as my days off are usualy week days and babz is working so cant borrow her car etc.

Dropping a new engine in wouldnt be practical either as would mean sourcing one, then collecting it and then another day to fit and make sure it all runs properly etc. I dont have that kinda time off work to do that. SOurcing a decent engine could take days and then collecting could take a day in itself. Then theres the problem on another car to go and get the engine etc.

TBH I do want something else now the option has come up but the golf wouldnt have been sold if the HG didnt go. I only just bought a brand new bootlid for it and other bits.. hardly like I was planning on getting rid.

Why do I always have to defend myself when I decide to buy a new car

what you planning to get next?

It seems like everytime i log on to FF you have a different car!!:D

Depends what kinda sport your into... Towing horse boxes maybe?

Rear suspension bouncing perhaps? I mean, with the back seats down and being a Marea estate and all that. Loads of room in the back :p  :p

(better not let Babz see that!)

Not my problem anymore. Sold and collected.

You sold Babz????!!!!
