Hello

Anyone knows the part number for a Universal Viper kit??? Cant seem to find the number anywhere, and so cant order it...OR, is it possible that the kit for the Bravo HGT (VFC164) can fit the marea 1.8? My guess is that it should fit, but would like to hear if someone knows about this matter...maybe the wise Tom? hehe :)

Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Come on Yogis, I'd expect you to be able to work this one out :)

Its really easy, take the pipe off the air flow meter and measure it, simple! :)

Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Yeah i know but come on dont make me measure this :)
Anyways shouldnt the HGT bravo fit?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Check one of the other active induction kit threads, I think the 1.8 has a bigger OD than the HGT.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Ok
Guess is better to buy a universal one and then if its too long i can always get a custom made Samco here i guess...U know anywhere where I could check what dimensions should fit the 1.8?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Dimensions as in the hose size or overall size? They are not that big so should fit easily in the hole left by the old filter.

I have a 200mm diameter filter in there.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Whilst we are on the subject of this Viper induction kit - I have an HGT PiperCross induction kit. This produces a beautiful engine sound but no real performance difference. Has anyone put in a Viper kit in their HGT? and have you noticed a difference?
£250 os a lot of money for a kit.....considering I paid £80 for the normal Pipercross one....

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

The inlet pipe on the HGT is 70mm, the 1.8 is 85mm. This is the bit that goes from the standard air filter or induction kit to the inlet manifold.
Buy a universial filter with a 85mm (engine side) pipe. Does that make sense?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Time to get some 85mm s/s pipe :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Phil, I've got a BMC CDA on my 147.
Basically the same as the Viper just cotton in carbon fibre instead of foam and £75. cheaper! (£175.)
It's lost some of that lovely growl the Pipercross gives but it definately improves power.
The low end torque you lose with the Pipercross Vector is back and it pulls better from about 4,000rpm all the way to the redline :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Unfortunately the sizes available are 83 or 88.5 no 85...I guess I have to stick with my crappy 57i kn kit...I just wanted to fit this viper before i had to remap the dastek again next week :( I am also afraid this kn kit is getting mostly warm air since the engine runs much warmer now...perhaps shoul dput the power blanket...CONFUSED!!!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Get the 88, the silicone pipe will clamp down to 85 easy enough.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Si, do you have a website where I can check your filter brand? Also the power and sound you lose with the filters comes back when you tune it...After having my Dastek my kn kit is so loud!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

OK this thread is getting big hehe
Tom, if I buy the 88.5/150/200 universal kit, what else you think I would need to finish fitting it?
Any ideas on what comes in the kit?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Nothing else comes in the kit. Get some 88mm silicone hose, some hose clips and thats about it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Ok

I guess I will buy it and give it a shot
I guess is going to be hard to find the right hose, right angle and size and lenght etc...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Hehe!! best of luck!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Viper Induction Kit

Thanks!!!
Must do it before next week
The car is having har d time in idle because the dastek was programmed when the car had the damaged cam sensor...now has t obe redone...and also i think i am loosing HP with that kn getting so much hot air... i think...

K&N 57i Induction Kit.

YoGIS,

The K&N 57i Induction Kit that you are currently using it on your 1.8 engine, does the kit come with the ducting/piping from the air flow meter to the cone filter?

Thanks,

Syed.
