Help.

1.3 multi jet qubo

Very reluctant to start from cold, can take several cycle before it picks up. Up to 40 seconds before it picks up.
Just as if the glow plugs were not working.
Glow plugs replaced by garage (all 4) no difference
Once started, runs perfectly.
Fuel filter replaced. No difference.
Egr valve replaced. No difference ( original refitted )
Battery checked , very healthy, correct type and only 2 years old (stop start type)

Basically once started, runs ok, stop any time during journey, no problems starting at all. (first turn)

Stop and park, go back after an hour ( engine still warm ) it will then take a shorter while to start maybe 10 seconds, but defiantly not straight away.

It's almost like the fuel is drawing away from the fuel rail and needs to reprime every time, however no major priming sounds from the pump?

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Car still in the garage ( non fiat but got the software and they have always been good in the past ) but they are starting to scratch their heads...now thinking injectors?

Cheers

Ken

I hear my in tank pump prime every time I turn on the ignition
Worth getting them to check the low pressure should be around 3 bar from memory,
A leak off test will prove any issues with the injectors , also would be a good idea to look at the live high pressure under cranking to see how quick it builds to starting pressure around 300 bar

Thanks, I'll speak to them in the morning, that are very receptive to ideas!

Well, eventually sorted:

High pressure fuel pump ( from fiat - no suitable pattern ones worked - I was there when he tried 2... So a £960 pump later )

All injectors replaced, fuel rail replaced.

Glowplugs already replaced.

Fuel filter already replaced .

Egr valve removed, cleaned, refitted

So got it back for the second time, and it starts first time, every time even at -6, in fact it's start easier then it ever has.

Just a pity it costs a lot to fix! However still cheaper then trying to replace it with another qubo.....
