Hey Guys,

I have a Fiat Qubo 1.3 multijet Turbo diesel, 2014 plate
Its done 9,500 miles. Its had a front end accident in the past (wheel had come off = Wishbone broken).
Quite possible the radiator had to be removed and refitted.
I see a bleed valve at the back of the engine, that can be opened by hand (a black one with a flat head screwdriver connection too).
I think the other bleed valve is a whitish/creamy phillips turning one on the top of the radiator facing the driver on the off side (driver side). it is a hexagon too, possibly a 13mm ?

The water is not circulating back to the water tank, as the water tank stays cool, yet i drive for 10 minutes and the car gets up to 50% temperature (especially as my journey there is uphill)

Im thinking there is air in the system blocking it circulating (i will try and release the radiator phillips screw tomorrow to see if that lets the water system circulate)
Is there an electrical connection to the water pump or the thermostat that can be causing the block ?
Where is the thermostat and where is the water pump ?
is it common for the water pump to go or is it a seal or something else causing it ?
The fan heaters work okay, and blow hot air quick due to the water not circulating properly

Even the fan turns on to cool the car down if i drive for over 10 minutes etc, and luckily the temp does not go above 50%, which is good, but i still feel the water tank should circulate the water

when facing the engine, a pipe on the right is hot, not sure if the one on the left was hot too..i think it was not..

i dont have much idea about this car as i just bought it and the seller did not seem that helpful, and i need to fix it, as i think it will cause damage long term, if not already.

Would really appreciate some help and advice that could help me get the car water circulation problem fixed

Thankyou !

Hello,
In my opinion you must check and replace the thermostat which is blocked on the close position. That's why the water is not exceeding 50º C because the water is circulating on the small circuit which is heating the cabin. The large circuit of the water which must cool down the engine temperature is not functioning because of the blocked thermostat.

The thermostat is located on the left side of the engine ( we take the sides left or right depending the driver's position near the driving wheel) under the high pressure fuel pump.
To remove the thermostat you must do the following operations:
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the battery from the supporting plate.,
3. Drain all the water from the radiator system. If the engine is warm then you must be careful with water which can be a little hot. At this step you must disconnect the water hoses. from the thermostat.
4. Remove the 2 screws on the sides of the thermostat. You'll need a a 10mm socket. Remove the thermostat and the old gasket. Refit the new thermostat with the new gasket and do all the operations in reverse order.
5. Refill with water and let the engine work for abut 4-5 minutes. If the water exceed 90º C this means that the water is not enough or it has air in the system. Stop the engine and complete the water but only when the engine is cold. Do not exceed the maximum mark level.
6. Start the engine and let it run for about 4-5 minutes after that drive the car until the water heats to normal temperature (90º C). If the temperature rise normal you've solved the problem.

Hope will help you.

PS

When the water pump is malfunctioning the engine temperature will rise very quickly. But the temperature is not rising until 50º C that means the water pump is functioning. Water pump is located in the right side of the timing chain. I replace water pump each time I replace the timing chain or when is broke.

In the foto is the hoses of high pressure fuel pump, underneath is located the thermostat.
