Hello good Fiat people
Welcome to the latest saga:
Some weeks back the (not so) faithful Fiat came home with a rattly timing chain. So, I changed it. (I've done it a couple of times in the past and had no problems getting the van running again).
This time however, no start.
Hmm... Sounded like timing was way out, so I stripped things back and sure enough the timing was a good few teeth off - something had clearly been off (the aftermarket flywheel pin is a bit on the thin side & I suspect that was it)
I re-timed with a thicker pin and fettled the cam pins too (they never fit properly), until they 'clicked' into the cam. Then turned the engine over by hand a good few times to check, and all was good.
Now it 'tries' to go but as soon as the motor fires it cuts out dead
No fault codes showed on Multiecuscan - innumerable checks - except one that popped up just once (screen attached)
From that, the only data I can see that corresponds to the 'signal above max threshold' is 'Fuel pressure 1500 bar'
While I can't see any immediate relationship between the timing and the HP pump, perhaps there is?
