Hi have just today bought a 1996 punto 75 ELX. 1 problem I have is the wipers. They work fine but the motor makes this horrendous kind of grinding noise when they are used. I have seen new wiper motors on sale but they are nearly £100!! Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and if there is an easy fix or if i'm gonna have to fork out for the new motor. I'll try to upload a video tomorrow to show what i mean!

Try removing, stripping, cleaning and re-greasing or buy a known good tested one from a scrappies. Worth lubricating the wiper linkage too at the same time.

Just some info if anyone else has this problem.

So took out the linkage and motor to have a look, and turns out the motor itself has rusted away! Magaged to get another one with linkage and new wiper blades from ALFASH and replaced everything!

Was there a tell tale water mark line in the area around the motor? Check the drain holes they block up with debris over time, the when theres lots of rain it floods filling the wiper motor with water and creating the rust, and later on if it floods a bit more your gona get water in the footwell and bye bye heater blower resistor pack.
