Tuning V6 engine in tipo..

Was suggesting hunting down a GTA lump from a written off car. Probably in demand when they come up and worth more than the 155 you've got though.

How far have you got then? Is the lump in the car now? Great project wish I had the knowledge and skills to undertake such a project.

hehe yah.. if you could get a GTA lump that cheap ...
well there are some aspects of this build ... im not totaly sure that i have gotten all the bits from the unit that aproves the key so the car will start.. but if that turns out to be a problem i will go into some engine manigement system like the megasquirt and compleatly control it with that.

there will be a video shortly showing the progress.. a week ago i compleatly disasemled the 155. so the entire thing is sitting on the flor of my garage.! with breaks and everything.

my next target is to get it startet right there on the flor .. this way it willbe alot easyer to sort out any problems!

is there any tipo with wires to gearleaver insted of pips`?

i think only thepunto engined 1.2 had a wire shift gear mech.

You can contvert the shifter by swapping the entire section in he tunnel with the one in the tipo. The v6 box is the same (near as) to the coupe turbo box and shift cables. YOu can convert the tipo to cable shift (sedici box) using alfa romeo 1.6 ts 146 gama parts. Theres a few to be bought.

i recently won a alfa 1.7i.e 33 speedwagon on ebay for £150 which was a really nice looking car... engine was lively too. The transmission was hydraulic and didn't have any kind of sensation coming through it... I gave the guy his car back as the 1.4i.e Tipo was a more involved experienced... can't see myself with a car with hydraulic gear selection in the future unless things have changed.

i think your mistaken !
the coupe handbrake and gearlever section unbolt and bolt up to the tipo floor,giving you cable shift,have a look at your alfa,it may well be the same.
im just about to start turboing my tipo,so will be interested in seeing how you get on.

any ho remember if the gear leaver asembly is mounted with scrues on the 1,6 tipo? because i could unscrue the entire thing from the 155!
