Did any of them actually understand a word you said or were you just bombarded with monosyllabic intejections.
A few, one here to his masters from Nigeria, one who had completed a neuroscience degree and was waiting to start a medic's degree (just fancied being a doctor lol) but the main part they were all people with less ambition than the aforementioned pig.

Never mind the Evo. The Lancia Delta laid the groundwork for this market segment. The original and still the best. :)

Too true, I've driven Imprezza's (original model still the best if a little common) and an EVO 6 (in my opinion the best looking of all Mitsi's especially Makkinen Edition in red), but none have the Kudos of the integrale. It won an unprecedented 6 Manufacturers WRC titles in a row, a feat that shall never be repeated, and over 44WRC rally events, imprezza gets close but they have been running now for 12years in WRC, and almost completed a clean sweep in 88 & 89 WRC seasons and this is not counting the numerous German, French, Italian etc etc national rally titles & event wins, it's the daddy. I know because whenever I take mine out you always get the knowing looks from other rally car drivers

& in 1992 it was claimed by CAR magazine as the fastest car in world from A -B in Britain, as ultimately super cars are too wide for country lanes & such as we have here in the UK, when pitched against Porsche 911 & Lotus Élan Turbo. (y)

In this months Top Gear Mag they pitch an EVO 2 (i think) against an EVO 8 FQ 340 and there is little 2 no difference over a slalom & track course, progress??? The new ones are too heavy at 1450kgs, but very very fast in a straight line & the ability to make an average driver feel like a god as the electonics help them out of impossble situations ;)

I can't remember who said it but TT as in Audi stands for Tourist Trophy aka Isle of Man, not twin turbo! & for the record Audi/VW/Seat/Skoda all use the same floor pans/engines etc etc on many many cars, and the four wheel drive system (Haldex) they use is rubbish, it's in essence a FWD car until you lose grip then it sends drive to the rear, not a patch on a real 4WD car with all that weight stuck out front. As for the 3.2 its just a Golf R32 with a fancy gearbox, and big girls blouse clothing (n)

Rant over :D :D :D :D

I think someone like Jezza said not long ago that cars are geting slower......

I personally think it's true with all the legislations coming in from brussels (n)

lol, that's right, blame Europe *rolls eyes* lol

It wasn't me who said twin turbo, it was a guy from "work"

Call me old fashioned, but of the rally cars, I still wouldn't mind having a spin in a Lancia Stratos, if there are any of them still going.

There are but way out the budget of the guy in the street. The one at Brooklands is a replica, but v.nice all the same.

See here for the real thing http://www.carclassic.com/html/DL78.htm
other LAncia's including rally cars http://www.carclassic.com/html/LANCIA.htm

I want this car http://www.carclassic.com/html/DG86.htm

It's not always legislation and funnily enough, we are governed by the British Parliment, not the EU as much as the Sun would like you to think that.

It's about safety features mainly, as design progresses we're adding 8+ airbags, ERS, ABS, NRD (yeah I made that one up) all of which weigh! Right now the desire from people is feature rich cars, electric windows, aircon, sunroofs, ICE, high quality trim and heated seats, again, weight.

Which is a bad thing?! Rather a crumple zone anyday.

The fact is something like a crumple zone if designed correctly could weigh less, also bumpers have got lighter as plastics have been developed good enough to replace crome plated metal etc. I would personally say it's more about market demands than legislation at the moment if we compare a car from 15 years ago to now.

Now that's a proper rally car. As far as I know, it's still the only car that's ever been designed specifically for rally. As opposed to a derivative of a road car.

The Lancia Delta S4 was also built just for Rallying with it's 1.8L super charged & turbo charged motor giving no lag whatsoever (think its the only car ever to do this, could be wrong) which could make 600bhp, but the Ford RS200, Audi Quattro Short Wheel Base, Porsche 959 (yes it was meant for Group B but group B was banned after the death of Toivonen in the S4) Metro 6R4, Peugeot 205 T16, Renault 5 Turbo where all conceived for rallying, but rules stated they had to also build 250 road going versions. With the advent of Group A the rules stated that rally cars had to be based on road cars with production of a minimum of 2500units, this gave birth to the integrale, imprezza, Celica GT4, Sunny GTiR, Sierra/Escort Cosworth, Mitsi EVO's it's just a shame that the rules now say you don't have to build road going versions, only have them based on them, hense why you see no mental Focus, 206 or Xara 4WD turbo's on the road or the raodgoing versions from Subaru or Mitsi are anything like the rally cars.

Must be Brussels again :D

On the subject of Lancias. I know a lad in Co. Tipperary, Ireland that has an original condition 037. As well as that he has a 131 Abarth and several other cars. Nice collection. :)

Ah the 131 Abarth, I love that car, 037 is good to, it was the last car to win the WRC with only 2WD & this was AFTER Audi introduced the LEGENDARY Quattro (y)
