Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 28/01/06*

charlie, yeah the cover stayed on over nite :)

1986uno45s, made sure the shell was totally stripped, nothing left on it at all! and yeah, we were joking too about "The New Fiat Uno Convertable" LOL :D
hehe, yeah, louies already onto me :D

louie, nah, the rear turrets are coming off, along with the rear pannel, just that my angle grinder decided it would blow up, so i need to buy a new one! then in the evenings i shall get a torch and get them off.

faster4_tec, yup, deffo finished now!! 3 of u can easily lift the shell now, but ive actually cut 90% of the bulk head off now, but my angle grinder knackered up, so will remove the rest of it when i get a new grinder this week.

jordan, hehe, keep updated on this thread as i expect it to be moving quite quickly now. i was meant ot be getting my new shell this weekend, but as i said above, the unexpected failure of my angle grinder put an end to the cutting fun and i couldnt bring it :( but it will deffo be at mine next sunday (thats the next time i can bring it!!)

fingers crossed peeps!

faster4_tec, wont cause any damage, ive made sure not to go for a too bigger oil cooler as i dont want to over cool the oil.

you'll be using a thermostat on the oil cooler, surely?

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 28/01/06*

yeah arc. the uno turbo has a oil cooler as standard and runs a thermostat. all im doin is replacing the OE oil cooler with a Mocal 19 row one as when on the track the OE oil cooler isnt up to the job and the oil temp goes sky high!

edit: also, i shall be relocating my new oil cooler and cutting yet more of my bumper out to accomidate it and allow it more air flow :D

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 28/01/06*

You are a nutter mate.

Put up a before and after pic. lol

Any plans for engine mods?

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 28/01/06*

biz mate, u think im a nutter now, wait ti ll u see the finished UT. man, its got some seriously trick bits on it!

as for engine mods, i shall be using my current lump as its only done 13k miles since full rebuild with abarth cam, forged pistons, fully lightened/balanced bottom end, hybrid turbo polished ported head etc etc and is good for a true 200bhp. once ive built my uno up and ran it this year im gonna get a new UT engine and try build a 300bhp engine running my new engine managememnt which ive sourced ;) but im being hush hush on all that as ur just gonna have to wait till 2007 to see that engine. but put it this way, it'll have 3 very special things, ALS, traction control and launch control plus ALOT LOT more!

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 02/02/06*

it has been quite a cold week hasn't it, I reckon we're on for some snow in the next 10days or so.

buy yourself a patio heater and some flood/work lights (we got 2 sets of pairs, thats 8 lights) for £40 from a local timber place that went bust, looks like they had not been used much/ever!!! And we got the big yellow brick thing (to run 4 at a time) for a tenner!! You can light up half of cumbria with them LOL!!!
