Bravo Using to much petrol

Hi I have fiat bravo 1.4 petrol 2008, I don't know it it's me, but seam to be using a lot of petrol. Had exhaust done about a month ago but still using to much petrol. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Supermarket fuel isn't the best try shell fuel save,might need new fuel filter

Have you had any servicing done?
Could be worn spark plugs etc..

Was the exhaust blowing??

Hi been services since new, exhaust was blowing, but had new exhaust, thought that would cure it but no still using far to much petrol.

Maybe disconnect battery negative lead overnight.

It will then forget the BAD settings from running with the leaky exhaust.

It will resort to its inbuilt factory settings.

Any errors stored in ECU?
How is the car used? long trips/short trips/start-stop/highway (what speeds)?

Does the car get up to operating temp normally (within 2-3 minutes at this time of year... ~3-5 km in the winter time)?

Hi going to cheque if there are any error codes. I did disconet the battery for 1 hour, but no change. I only do short journeys, it about 24 miles to the gallon. should be 38.

It's ok.
I have same with my 1.6 mjet diesel car.
5 miles + another 5 miles from home to office and back, in town, heavy traffic.
10 litres at 100 km what mean 25 miles per gallon.

Whats your average speed over a tank? Do you have a TJet or an NA one?



Slow stop start traffic with the A/C running could easily force the MPG down to low 20s.



Aschiuta, i'd get yours checked as well. No way a 1.6 mjet should be returning less than 30 mpg, unless you're doing sub-1 mile journeys a lot.
