I have a 2023/4 Ducato camper. My problem is I cannot get any usb sticks to play music or even be recognised by the head unit. I have tried both ports, the one on the dash next to the 12v socket and the one on the lower dash above the cup holders. When the radio is turned on, the usb logo is greyed out. I cannot choose it as the source of input. Radio, phone, bluetooth all work. If I do manage to get the usb as the selected port, it just states 'Connect Device' I have tried formatting the usb in fat32 and NTFS but neither files help the usb connect/show on the screen. Of course, if the usb cannot be selected I will be unable to do any updates if needed, apart from not being able to play music. Any Help?

I have nothing like your set up, its a pioneer head unit. The Usb sockets scattered around the cab are power only. the Head unit USB connector is hidden at the rear and is made accessable by an extention lead that could be any where but in my case is in the drawer bellow the head.

The Ducato handbook mentions using the usb for updates etc, so I am presuming if you can input an update you should be able to get the usb button to be available. I might have to try and find a bluetooth mp3 player and play music that way.

...assuming a factory-fit Fiat radio.

The relevant USB socket is that above the cup-holder, not any other.

The USB symbol on mine is greyed out if it doesn't have (or doesn't recognise) an inserted USB device.

It would appear that you have tried the correct formatting so:

i) what size is the USB stick (manual says it supports up to 64GB, though not sure what the effect would be of a larger one).

ii) have you tried a different (max 64GB) USB stick?

The final thing to check would be that the radio is actually connected through to the USB socket. It is not impossible for it to have become detached at either end - I think it uses a fairly common USB extension lead. The easiest end to check is the socket end.

I have tried both usb ports, centre of lower dash and the one next to the power socket on the upper part. All the usb's are either 16 0r 32 GB and formatted to Fat 32. I contacted my dealer and they stated it could be a loose wire, but the top port will charge. I have no idea if the lower centre one charges, I will have to check it. Somebody mentioned elsewhere about an orange light near the lower port, but I do not appear to have one on my 23/24 model. I have found how to remove the radio, so I will check for a lose wire, but the video only seems to show plugs attached, rather than just a wire, so I doubt a complete plug would come out without affecting something else. I have meanwhile found an old mobile to play music through bluetooth. Just not sure it I can use bluetooth for music and satnav at the same time. Why oh why did they do away with the aux socket.

According to my manual both usb connections can be used for charging, but only the lower one for media/updates (since that is the one connected to the radio).

If there is a lack of continuity to the usb socket IMO the most likely place the break will be (if it has come loose) is directly behind the socket, as it is a single connection (and, I suspect push-fit).

The panel in which it is mounted will probably come out forwards if "persuaded" - I'm pretty sure it's a click fit, but if it won't or if you're wary the whole cupholder unit only requires three torx screws removing, top right and left and one under the rubber mat in the rectangular portion of the cupholder. Sharp pull forward at the holder level should remove it ( the clips that hold it are robust).

It needs to be removed to change the pollen filter, and it is possible the cable has been dislodged during servicing if that has been done.

Thanks for your reply. I have been a touch busy , but will try and have a look tomorrow or Sunday.
