Technical URGENT - Air filter problem

Hello all, need help.

I bought this vehicle a few months back and when i got it i knew it needed work, the problem im having is that when i bought it, it had a k & n air filter instead of the standard but it doesnt sit right and isnt screwed down. The filter has a thread to screw it to something but the housing doesnt (see pics)

This one needs replacing but is it a case that there should be an adapter fitted or has the previous owner been using the wrong one for a punto?

Put that filter in the bin and find a normal airbox for the punto from scrappies instead.

There arent any holes in the top of the air filter, there are holes on the mounting but obviously the filter goes on top of the mounting but shouldnt it be fixed firmly? I am presuming now that there should have been an adapter or its the wrong one for this type of car?

you could drill the top and fit the 2 mounting pegs from an OE filter housing set up.
may need a bit of extending/bodging but should work.
another method is to cable tie it/jubilee clip it around the TB 'neck'

I hate k&n filters looks like its a crap universal one, if theres no mountings all i can think there done is sit it on top of the tb, or there had a clip around the filter holding it on to the tb, you would probably gain better power with a standard air box.

Yeah think i will just chuck it and look for a standard box again, it does just sit on top so isnt very effective.

when you go to scrappy make sure you get the 2 poles that screw on top of tb as well or standard airbox wont fit back on

K&N usually have a massive jubilee clip that goes round the neck of the filter and the flange on the TB.

Hi all, i have managed to get a standard air box and all the fixtures required, silly question here but does anyone know which air filter is the correct one, i have seen a square or circle one.
