Hi all,

Apologies if this is deemed as a repeat question, but any previous conversation on this topic has essentially just ended with "it's a big effort and requires electrical knowhow and probably isn't worth the bother..."

My Panda Dynamic 1.2 169 (2005) has manually adjustable mirrors, and I would quite like to upgrade to the electric ones. Not a fan of how the later, bigger mirrors look, but I found two of the smaller style ones on eBay for a reasonable price. Not sure if they're heated or not, but that's not something I'm bothered about, I'm only really interested in them being adjustable.

I have done some poking around and my car has the wiring loom up to where the switch would be:

Fuse F49 in the cabin fusebox:

And the wiring looms up to the door connectors have all 12 pins with wires connected:

Both door wiring looms, however, are missing pins:

According to the schematic in my Haynes manual, that's everything, so does this technically mean that all I need (other than the switch and the mirrors themselves) is a set of door wiring looms that have the connector for electric mirrors?

Beyond my visual checks, I attempted to check to see if the switch connector was receiving power, but there are no pinout diagrams for this connector. I tested several combinations with my multimeter but wasn't able to get a voltage reading for anything. Does anyone have any knowledge of which pin is for what on this connector? The schematic mentions pin numbers but the connector itself doesn't, so I'm not sure in what arrangement or even which way round these would be referencing... My car's wire colours are also entirely different any time I've tried to compare anything with the manual so that's not too useful either!

Essentially, is this possible? It seems the only thing my car is lacking is the correct door wiring looms, but prehaps I'm just missing something obvious?

TIA!

Should be battery voltage at ignition on when measured against a chassis ground

At the center console

I make fuse 49 one lower not that it makes any difference they are both 7.5 amps

Thank you, that's really helpful!

Had a look on eLearn myself and it seems that H030's pinout is:
Pin 1 & 3 - Left Mirror Control
Pin 2 & 4 - Right Mirror Control
Pin 5 - Ground
Pin 6 - Power (from switch to mirrors)
Pin 7 & 8 - Power (to switch)

So technically could I stick the positive multimeter probe in 7 / 8 and then the negative one in 5 since it goes to ground? Or am I misinterpreting and must I make my probe reach a bit further and find an actual grounding point?

Do you know where the nearest ground point would be?

Quite right, it would appear I have read it upside down- Tip off should have been that the numbers were the wrong way round 😅

So my next steps are to check for current through the switch connector, (maybe also check for continuity between pins 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 against the door loom connectors) and if all okay, try and source some correct door wiring looms!

The proper ground is on the passenger side A post

Same as pin 5

Seat belt bolt will also works

How easy is it to find the correct door harness they were only fitted to higher end models

Super, thanks, will test today

Asked a car breaker I've bought bits off previously and they're willing to sell me the pair of mirrors, switch and door looms, so that turned out to be the easy part ;)
The passenger side mirror also has a temperature sensor, should I ever wish to upgrade my instrument panel
