Hi Folks. has anyone got the under-seat drawer in their stilo? i found mine yesterday but its under the drivers seat which seems a bit weird and it also seems a bit cheap!

I found the drawer under my driver's seat a month after I picked up my car. I was actually trying to move my seat back at the time and missed that lever and pulled out the drawer :D In my excitement I looked to see if there was one under the passenger seat and rear seat - alas no :( I keep my Good Pub Guide (most important ;)) in it, and anything else that fits.

In my previously Stilo was under-seat drawer. And it was completely useful. But this Abarth has not drawer :( , because of electrical seats

Hmmm I don't think I have this underseat drawer on my Stilo - its a 53 Plate 1.9 JTD Dynamic.

I love it to bits but there are a few things that seem to be missing (not a problem though)

I also had a piece of paper saying about the "FIAT STILO ACTUAL" - Has anyone else had this?
It states about the Front Seat Height and Lumbar Adjustments ; Oddment Compartments under the seat ; 12 V Socket in the Boot & the Brake Assist System.

Which is a bit worrying because i dont seem to have the first 3 items!
(Apart from the Drivers seat having the height and lumbar adjustment - because i paid extra for that!)

Whats the verdict folks?

Regards,
James

Jetweed, have a good check for your drawer mate, its well concealed, and is stiff to open. But mine is same year and model as yours (without your extras tho :( ) and it has it.

As for the heat and lumbar, the dynamic should have it as standard, mine has ;) .

Oh, and I ain't got the 12v either, but Jamjar kindly gave me £100 back to make up for this :D

fiat appear to have dropped the spec of models slightly. my 02 1.6 dynamic had 2 storage bins under the seats, a storage tray above the interior light, a 12v socket in the boot and map pockets behind each seat. my 04 abarth only has one storage bin under the drivers seat and one map pocket.

Seems to be no standard as to which model has what. I have a 52 reg 1.6 Active with AirCon. I have one drawer below the drivers seat, nothing below the passenger seat, I have adjustable lumbar support and seat height (I didn't pay extra), no map pockets behind the seats, but I do have the coveted 12 volt socket in the boot ;)

I think removing little features like these is a big mistake, they really make the stilo.

Dog, does your car have the rear courtesy light? The 04 courstesy car I have at the mo doesn't which is a real backwards step imo, as features such as this give the stilo a more luxurious feel.

I have an 02 plate Stilo 1.6 Dynamic. Two underseat bins, storage in the drivers reading light area, map pockets and fold down table !! Light up vanity mirrors on both sides etc etc.

If I had to put up with one storage bin under the seats, I would have it on the passenger side, as trying to get anything out of the one under your feet when driving is quite difficult.

I agree, all of these 'extras' make the stilo what it is (was). A mistake to start removing them.

My 51 has the lumbar support/height adjustable seats, storage drawers on both the passenger and drivers side and the 12V socket in the boot. Oh, and I have the rather nice armrest come table in the rear. I remember at the time of ordering I wanted the passenger height/lumbar option but was told that it was standard on the Abarth (that saved me £80!). Perhaps people didn't study the options list enough, although I suspect I got in just in time before Fiat started removing bits (options or not).

It would have been much better if they'd removed the items (or better not remove them at all) but then at least offer them as options. With the amount of kit removed from the 04 models (no colour matrix display, 12V socket in the boot etc...) if I was in the market for a new car now, I don't think I would consider the Stilo. It may have been a cost cutting exercise by Fiat, but I'm sure it is backfiring on them.

What do others think, if you're a lucky owner with all of the "missing bits" would you still consider buying one now?

Sure I would. It seems that although some of the "bits" are missing, at least they have fixed (?) all the problems that seemed to affect the earlier models. I would take reliability over a drawer any day. Having said that my 52 has been reliable so far (2,000 miles on the clock) and I have the "bits" that are missing from the newer models.

Sure, I wouldn't have let an underseat drawer be the final decider, but since I was also considering an Astra Coupe at the time, every little bit helped, and unless you get a real stinker of a Friday afternoon car, I think mechanical reliability is a bit of a non-issue these days.

Afterall, if you look at the cars it is aimed as, such as the Golf, Astra and Focus, the level of standard equipment they offered was no where near what was in the Stilo (have you tried speccing up a Golf without spending an extra 2 grand?). Trouble is, they've all now released newer models with higher standard specs. Still, at least they could never have "Italian flare" as an option.

I, too, was looking at an Astra and a Focus (both used) until I found out I could get my 52 Plate Stilo with only 33 miles on it for cheaper than a used Focus. Focus sure holds it's value, and I don't know why. BTW, how is the new Astra - still "Vauxhall-like"? The Golf was out of the question way too much £££. It'll be interesting to see how Czech VW does (Skoda). Will they be able to get rid of their Eastern Block image? Remember the Lada and Moskovich  ? However, I am happy with my Stilo, so all the above is out the door anyway :)

Hey - James you were right - I do have the underseat drivers drawer!
i dont however have the 12v Boot Plug - but hey not as if i am likely to use it.
I do have the Map pockets in the back of both the front seats.
I dont however have the SkiTunnel thing - as far as i am aware!
I just looked through my owners manual today and was shocked at all the technology and ideas Fiat has created but not actually implemented into the Stilo at the very last minute.

In my owners manual I have :
EASY GO - The card thing which you walk upto the car and it unlocks.
RADAR CRUISE CONTROL - the Stilo keeps track of the car infront if it gets too close the Stilo automatically slows down
REMOTE HEATER/AIRCON - Allows you to turn on your heating or Aircon whilst still sitting in the house so that when you are ready to get into your car to drive off the temperature is just right.

WHY HASN'T FIAT BROUGHT THIS INTO THE STILO???

THEY WOULD HAVE WHOOPED FORD AND VW

I believe the Colour Screen thats on the Abarth (or was on the Abarth) should be implemented onto the Dynamic range!
I thought that was cool.

I can't wait for the next Stilo - if they have the above technology ready for the cars now what will they have on the next Stilo?
Maybe a Turbo boost like on KITT in Knightrider? or maybe a Hover Facility?

Forward Thinking! Damn right but why dont they provide it!!

The only feature I would have liked on my car was the Dual Zone CLimate Control which I dont think i had the option for when I bought from JamJar.

Also I've paid double for my Rear Spoiler!!

Cos i didn't realise the Dynamic range came with a Rear Spoiler as standard (AND NEITHER DID JAMJAR!!)

So I chose the Side Skirts and Rear Spoiler Option costing £370!

It would be an idea to have a mass Stilo meet and compare the specifications of our Stilos!! Cos it doesn't seem to me that there was a Standard Standard specification....

But I am pleased with my car immensely!

Definitely a 5 yr keeper or more! (WHO CARES FOR DEPRECIAITION!)

Jetweed

As usual, all good ideas, but I guess they couldn't get the technology right or may be it was buy in technology they couldn't afford at the time (even though they managed to print it in their manuals!)

Easy Go:
I have a feeling that this was available, but not in the UK. But look at the likes of Renault and Nissan (and current TV adverts). It's available on them and a nice feature for when its chucking it down or your hands are full (and the keys in the same trouser pocket to your fully laden hand/arm)

Radar Cruise Control
I wanted this as an option when ordering the car, but it wasn't available (I don't think it ever was). However, I think Mercedes (or could be VW) are offering this on some of their top of the range cars with it filtering down as an option on the rest of the range sometime soon.

Remote Header/Aircon
Yet another good idea. I think you can get this as an option in the Rover 75. However, I suspect the insurance companies were having kittens over this and the fact the car engine would be running and the vehicle left unattended.

So, Fiat are full of good ideas that everyone else pinches and puts in their cars as expensive options. Even the body lines of the Stilo have been copied by Ford and Vauxhall.

you can sure say that you get your money worth with stilo's, compared to my mates car, i can show off, with the sunroof activating on the remote, the sat nav, in car phone, the air conditioned cabinet that you chill. its great for an 03 plate thats done 12k and only £8125.... excellent value, and nothing major wrong yet, fingers crossed,,,, i hat focus interior,, its crap..

oh would also rather have a 03 stilo than a 04 as they took so much off it, like, central locking petrol cap, plastic door handles, no 12v input in boot, little things like that,, oh well im picky i no, but they look so nice, especially with my new 17" team dynamic tornados,,,
