Hey up

I'm having some trouble removing the stock Blaupunkt stereo (attached an image of my model) that came in a '05 Dynamic Punto.

After doing a bit of Googling and reading a few threads on here, I went and bought some ISO standard release keys. They fit into the four holes on the front of the stereo easy enough, but nothing seems to happen when they're inserted.

They are quite rough to get in, but I read someone somewhere saying they can sometimes be like that, and a bit of jiggling and pressure is needed. That doesn't seem to work, and neither does pushing the keys apart is I try and pull them outwards at the same time. I've tried everything with these keys but I just can't get the damn thing out!

I'm a bit worried a previous owner may have broken the release mechanisms or something, whilst trying to put it back in before selling.

Anybody have any suggestions on what I could try next? I really want to avoid potentially damaging it, but I feel like just ripping the thing out at the minute.

Thanks

Adam

Hi Adam. and welcome to FF,:)

the springs..they poke out from the side of the players sheet metal sides ..

SO - to release the unit from the dash;

insert the pin SLOWLY.. carefully feeling for resistance,
do the same with the other pin

then push the loops in your hands..OUTWARDS..and smoothy TUG the unit out from the dash

I often find one side will move 1st,
then it's just a case of wriggling it free..in a series of short moves

I hope that helps, :)

Thank you :)

And thank you again. In case anybody else has a similar issue, I was able to release the left side following that advice, but the right was still giving me trouble.

After getting a second pair of hands to keep the left side prised open a little, I was able to insert a screw driver behind the right side and release the lock manually.

On inspection afterwards, I'm guessing a previous owner either tried to remove the stereo too forcefully, or didn't put it back in correctly, and had bent one of the clips. Any attempt to use the release keys was just pushing further out, if anything. You can see the bottom one on the attachment.

It's out now though :) Unfortunately I do have another issue, but I will raise it in a separate thread.

Thanks again!

Adam
