Hi all,
I've had my X for over ten years and whilst it was in good condition when I got her, I have since tidied her up to almost perfect condition, I have retrofitted the original 70's bumpers for obvious reasons and she has since been lowered by 30mm...I have attached a few piccys below......my next job is to get some larger tyres, so my question is what do you think would be the widest tyres I could get on the current wheels...the standard 165 pirellis don't do the car justice !

thanks !
Enzo

Hi, I've run my Gran Finale on the OZ Ruote wheels with 13" 185/60 Yokohamas for years. Its lowered on Jamex springs and the wheel arch liners are still in and there is no fouling or scraping. Personally I think the look is just right as I don't think the X1/9 needs bigger wheels just meatier tyres. I don't really know what tyres are available in this size now though.

Your car looks great, I'm seriously thinking about de bumpering mine in time. I have a old 1300 in the garage with all the bits on it I need for the job.

I used to run my old exxy on 185/55R13 tyres, the look really good, although I'm not sure if they put the speedo out a little, drove fine and no fouling anywhere. Toyo R610s are available in this size from blackcircles for about £60 delivered or £75 fitted

Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi Enzo
I use Continental 175 60 13 I have tried 185s on 13" wheels and I find them to be a little vague

Don't be shy and get yourself a set of Toyo 185/60/13 r888's,,, The other halfs just got a set for his car and thinks there 'Ace'

Personally I can't see past 15s on an x1/9, but each to their own!!!

Already had a full set of those and yes they are a great tyre in the dry, bloody scary in the wet and last about a month before you need to change them.

If its Track day or summer fast runs I would agree the Toyo is a great tyre, if its all-round driving would still go for the Continentals

Hi enzo123

Cracking looking car,i have fitted 185/60/13 and they look very nice.Just a quick question off topic where is your rear fog light fitted, is it in the rear lights as i do not want a separate fog light if possible

Thanks Shaun

I run 185/60's on mine... Unfortunately here the tires are a bit hard to come by in that size. I waited two months and got some cheap sumitomo's. Not fussy on them but they'll do the job.

Hi Shaun, thanks for your reply.....185/60 or 185/55 seem the way to go ...
Thanks everyone for your replies ....
With regard to my fog light, its not physically fitted to the car at the moment ...I don't personally like it as theres no decent place to locate it
without it looking a bit crap....its wired and works, so at MOT time time I just hang it out the boot and then put back in the boot straight after!!
I don't drive my car in fog only in fine weather so doesn't really matter to me ! Love your Lido by the way....have you had it long ?

all the best

Thanks for the advice Mark, love your wheels by the way....Cromodora CD30s would be my preference but there nigh impossible to get hold of now...and if they do come up there for loads of money....
cheers

It isn't the cheapest option but try looking at Compomotive CXRs - they are available in an incredible range of widths and offsets in 13" diameter.

It is important to get the offset right, not only to get clearance but it can make a big difference to how responsive the steering is so don't go mad!

Thanks enzo123

Just wanted to know for the MOT. I been restoring it for about 2 years on and off and should be on the road by the end of the year.I love the look of the Lido but mine is not unfortunately.Just cheated a bit with the fibreglass bumpers and wheels.I have managed to find as much chrome as possible for it and made the front grille myself
