I'm just in the process of changing the 100hp alloys to a new set of 16" alloys but I'm a bit stumped with the tyre size to get. The car is running koni suspension too so sitting a bit lower.

The new rims are 16" x 7JJ ET 30?

Help!

Would 195/45's make much difference?

If you use the calculator based on standard size (195/45 15) then:

195/50-15 has a 3.50% bigger circumference (I also have these tyres and the speedo + GPS comparison shows equality)

195/45-16 has a 6.18% bigger circumference.

I think the view is (in terms of rolling) that 195/45R16 (880 revs/ml) come closer to the standard Panda options of 155/80R13 (886 revs/ml) & 165/65R14 (899 revs/ml) than does 195/45R15 (921 revs/ml) or 195/40R16 (911 revs/ml).

YyeesS – I recognise one mustn’t mention the standard Panda in the same breath as the 100HP.
I was taking the view that the objective was to use 7Jx16 rims c/w 195/45R16 tyres.

We already have evidence that the 100HP will take 185/60R14 & 195/50R15 tyres of circ. 71.3(± 0.1)” & 888(±1) revs/ml – i.e. within the envelope of the standard Panda options. OK, 195/45R16 is outside that envelope – but by how much?

The Panda 100HP is derived from the Punto 1.4/16v 95HP – that takes a 185/55R15 tyre (circ 72.3/876revs) Note that with the 1.8/16v 129HP – they didn’t drop the tyres to smaller circ., they remained the same. .

195/40R16 is the size to use.
On 500 wheels it look like this.

I can't see why the model of car makes any difference to the number of revs per mile of a given tyre on a given rim.

Well the 195/45/16R Continentals that come stock on Abarth 6.5J wheels look like this.

And my speedo shows exactly the same as GPS on few different units at 30/60/90mph read outs. But I did adjust cluster needles when I did LED conversion as I put everything back. Wasn't adjusted to correct the speed thou.

Confirmation that 195/45R16 are doable, on 6.5Jx16 anyway – and maybe where indicated speed = true speed.
Interestingly they’re touring tyres.
