General  Tyre shock...

When I bought my Multi new in 2001, it wore Pirelli P6000s.

For 175k miles, I've always put P6000s on it (all of my Italian cars wear Pirellis, my French car wears Michelins - that's just how things should be in my mind).

So, I had a surprise. No more P6000s made.

I now have a pair of P6 Cinturatos on the front. These are the direct replacement apparently.

I'll have to go and lay down to get over the shock...

Welcome to planet Earth

Why would 2000 technology tyres still be in production in 2013?

When Pirelli & Michelin have some 50+ manufacturing plants around the world – what is the statistical probability yours came from Italy or France?

OK jesting over.
I think 2014 brings in new tyre standards that I guess the P6000 can’t meet.
The DoT code on the sidewall will indicate where the tyre has been made.

I had P6000 once on my Alfa 156, I don't remember them being particulary good. After that I usually choose Michelin for the Alfa and later the Multipla. But for this time I thought "wel let's go crazy" and I ordered a pair of Conti EcoContact 5 for the front. No regrets yet, nice silent tyres with lots of grip, I think they are even better than the previous Michelin Pilot and Energy Saver tyres I had.
