Hi,
I've got two problems with my Multipla at the moment. Thought they were related because they are both on the driver's door. But now I'm not so sure.

Problem 1: The door does not open in 'stages' any more, it just swings freely on the hinges. I suppose the 'metal bar to stop it opening too far  ' half way down has come off inside the door? Can it snap off? Apparently the door did get caught by a gust of wind which blew it hard open. I've taken the door trim off but can't see much as there is a lot of metal in the way. The door still opens and shuts fine - the hinges don't seem damaged at all.

Problem 2: The wing mirror doesn't fold any more. I thought that maybe the connector had come off if the door was blown open too far, but that is not the case. The mirror glass still moves if you operate the four-way switch, but the mirror does not fold in or out at all. The passenger mirror folds fine as normal but the driver one doesn't even 'try' (no motor noise). Is there a separate fuse? I tried to dismantle the mirror but it's pretty much a sealed unit I think, unless you know better ;) ?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks a lot,

Simon

Thanks for the reply T14086.
Turns out the two problems were unconnected. The wires are nowhere near the check strap and totally unharmed. I got a new check strap unit from local Fiat dealer for £12.50 inc (it was in stock!! ) and a new mirror unit for just under £90 inc delivery from allpartssouthwest.com. The mirror is 100% identical to the original Fiat one (which would have been £161 inc from the dealer) including the heating, power folding and temp. sensor. So all in all could have been worse - at least the door didn't blow right off!
Cheers,
Simon
