I've recently set up my new speakers (17" Infinity Reference Coaxial ones) and I'm running them with the standard tweeters (the ones next to the mirror adjuster thingy) still installed. The soundstage is now quite low, and I'm wondering whether it would be worthwhile to replace the standard tweeters with some better ones. If I did that, would there be any extra wiring to do and would it be better to get Infinity tweeters or does it make no difference?

Thanks (y)

P.S. This is thread number 1111 :D

in my punto i used existing tweeters cause infinity's never came with tweeter holders :bang:

there was 2 ways to wire up the speakers (4 connections on the speaker), 1 way made the tweeters work the other way didnt, not sure why or how it stopped the tweeters from working but it did

for standard and small tweeters i think they great and do the job perfectly, until i get them wired upto an amp

I'm using the standard wiring atm, and I think the standard tweeters are working, it's just the new ones seem to be louder, hence the soundstage being low.
Also, how would I fit new tweeters to replace the standards? because the standards twist into place and I'm guessing a 3rd party tweeter won't have that fitting. So how would I keep them in place?

i dont think you could fit aftermarket tweeters in the existing place, from memory the standard tweeters aren't much bigger than a 2p coin

would have to be a custom job and could be mounted virtually anywhere on the door or dash, hardest part would be finding a place to hide the crossovers, unless you want them on show

Cables pass sirectly through door porting and down to crossovers. The hardest part is getting the tweeter pointing towards the rear but it's worth it.

p.s. the cable is my gps unit

Thats sexy (y) but will involve getting either new pods, or making my own. I have manual mirrors, so still need the original pod...

Oh and another thing (yes I know I ask lots of questions ;)), will I have to get a new crossover or will the standard one be OK? And how difficult are they to fit?

lol ok :D
The reason I wanted to install tweeters to replace the standard ones is because now I'm using coaxial speakers in the door pods, the soundstage is really low, and I want to bring it back up again with a set of decent tweeters in or around where the standard ones are. And how hard is it to install a new crossover? Does it involve taking the dash to pieces? :(
