Traffic Updates on Uconnect Satnav

I understand that you need to have a data connection via your phone to get traffic updates etc, but how do you set it up to do this? Every time I turn on the satnav I get a messsge telling me that traffic updates are unavailable.

You need your phone connected via Bluetooth and the Uconnect App installed and running on your Smartphone.
