Hi there everyone. I am new to this site. I recently purchased a Fiat Punto 1.2 sporting Mk2 '03 plate. It has given me many problems since day one unfortunately. The heater stopped working after 2 days, (no fan or nothing works, aside from light display), the light when the door opens in the roof does not come on. The power steering locks up (even with city mode off), the stereo turns off whenever I go over speed bumps. It is a little bit of a nightmare, but I have fallen in love with my little Punto! and that is what has brought me here. I really want to do her up and make her special. Any assistance would be much appreciated. I bought a Haynes manual for her so I can learn to do maintenance on her myself. Pics will be up soon. Merry Christmas !

Hi. Welcome to FF. Does the red EPS warning light come on when the steering locks out, and I assume you mean it konks out

Hi there and thank you Yes the red steering light comes on in the dash when this occurs. I have to switch off the car and restart it for it dissapear, fortunately it has only occured during parking where full lock may be used, i'd dread for it to happen when i'm driving out. Is this a common fault and how can it be repaired? Furthermore my rear wiper overshoots the windscreen to hit the boot lid to much frustration it has scratched the paintwork. What is going on? can i fix this myself..

Hi ,
the electric power-steering playing-up is a common theme I'm afraid..,
not sure about the rear wiper..??,
does it still do approx 110 degrees of sweep or does it go past BOTH edges of the rear screen..??,
you should be able to do this yourself..,
but the steering is a can of worms.., possibly just poor connections- bad car battery.. but could just as easily be in need of a recon-steering part £££'s.

try posting in the Punto section , and have a go with the SEARCH icon,
there are LOTS of threads covering it's issues,

With regards to the EPS fault I'd get the battery condition checked, as this can often cause issues with the system.
