torque steer?

ive been told as you accelerate the car steers slightly from side to side and its called "torque steer" i heard this from a mate when he drove my car and sed i should have it looked at if possible?
not so sure, i get one with it!

Re: torque steer?

this happens because when you accelerate hard all the weight shifts to the back, my brava does it also.

Its a fact of life with front wheel drive cars.

Only way is to get a RWD car.

Re: Re: torque steer!

OMG! what engine do you have in your Bravo?

Torque steer

There are special differentials that will reduce torque steer and change its effect. On the Focus RS they have a clever setup, but if you boot it out of a corner it locks the wheel so you cant turn! you have to back off a bit to get it to turn properly!
I don't get much torque steer on my 155 HGT, so I doubt it can be imporved on very much - diffs are expensive an complicated to install/work on.

Re: torque steer?

Torque steer wouldnt really go from side to side. When you accelerate hard with your hands off the steering wheel it would move generally in one direction. If you cant feel it, dont worry about it! Yes torque steer shows you have a bit of power in your car but there is no gain to it whatsoever!

Just keep your hands on the wheel when you accelerate!
